Jor-El's transition from being apparently evil, and commanding Clark to rule Earth, to being a sketchy but mostly good figure is referenced but not really explained. Clarification, anyone? Problems with the text of the article

I feel that the part about it being clear that Jor-El is not really a bad guy in Smallville after season 4 isn't true, as who is making this distinction between what is clear in "Smallville" and what is not? Also, that part about what he meant by "your destiny" doesn't really make sense in the article.

The image you show of Jor-El is credited to Superman co-creator Joe Shuster. It is not drawn by him bbut by long-running Superman ghost, Wayne Boring. Check with DC if you doubt this, of course. Wayne worked on Superman from approx 1941 to mid-1960s.

  Thank you.

Jor-El in the comic books first in More Fun#101

He first appeared in comic books in More Fun#101 (with that spelling of the name, not Jor-L.)

In More Fun Comics#101, Jor-El and Lara are first clearly seen and referred to by name in the magazines.

Jor-El first appeared in the Superman newspaper comic strip in 1939, though under the name "Jor-L"; the spelling "Jor-El" first appeared in comics in "More Fun" #101. Also, you can sign your name by adding 4 "~" symbols to the end of your text. Anthony Dean 01:51, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

George Lazeby played an imposter

Lazenby actually plays an imposter, the character was not really diagetically Jor-El.

Merger?

There has been a merge tag on Jor-El (kryptonian) for a long time. It appears to me that the two pages are to the same subject, but I don't know enough to know where the material there should fit in this page. Could someone do the merger please, or if it isn't appropriate, remove the tags. Kcordina Talk 15:24, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the information on the Jor-El (kryptonian) page is already included in this article, and is largely copied-and-pasted from this page ([1]). Will merge the two pages together (under Jor-El) and use some of the info given on the original website's page. Anthony Dean 01:51, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sentence fragment

The following sentence fragment has been removed from the introduction: In most versions of the Superman story (with the notable exceptions of Superman: The Movie and the indirect sequel, Superman Returns. There's nothing to indicate what point was being made by this, so I've removed it. 23skidoo 14:32, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Doomed.jpg

Image:Doomed.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:19, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Smallville section

There is far too much plot information in the Smallville section. I've provide a link to the character's section in Characters of Smallville, which summarizes (succinctly) Jor-El's overall actions on the show. The only important things to mention on this page would be the real world information (i.e. who portrays him) and a brief summary of what the character does on the show. We don't need a episode-by-episode recap of everything he does. Readers can watch the show if they wish to know details about the character, or read the Characters of Smallville page, or even the season pages where the individual episodes are summarized.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:41, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The image Image:Jorel yahoo.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Smallville: a good guy after all
