Biography
Diether was a second year physical therapy student at De La Salle University in Dasmarinas, Cavite, when he was bitten by the show biz bug. It was his grandmother, who had urged him to take up physical therapy.
Career
He auditioned for ABS-CBN's talent search in 1996. A year and a half later, he became one of the members of Star Circle Batch 2. His first movie appearance was in Calvento Files in 1997.
He also dabbles in photography and used to take classical guitar lessons at the Yamaha School of Music. But all those activities have taken a backseat to his steadily rising show biz career.
"Diet" as he is fondly called in showbiz circles was born in Bacoor,Cavite and studied in De La Salle University-Dasmariñas. He started in show-business as a member of ABS CBN's circle of homegrown talents named Star Magic. Ocampo holds the record of starring in eleven teleseryes, more than any other actor in Philippine television history.
In front of the microphone, he is also known as “Capt. Mongrel” with his band, “Blow”. While keeping his frontman duties, Ocampo’s band members are Kessenth "Col. Cabron " Cheng (lead guitars), Emil Buencamino (percussion), Jasper “Pepe” Ong (co-vocals), and Empi K. Martinez aka "Obi Wakantoti" (bass). The band has two albums to date, Nice & Hard (2003) and Rock Manila (2005). [1] [2]
Currently he is active in charity works through his K.I.D.S. Foundation to help under privileged children of Metro Manila. He is also an animal right's advocate by being a spokesperson of the international group called the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or P.E.T.A, and he is also one of the owners of a locally circulated magazine for men called UNO.
Ocampo reportedly transfered from ABS CBN to a rival network GMA and signed a 4-year contract. He will have his first project on GMA which is the Koreanovela remake of All About Eve.[1]
