The Devil Wears Prada

The Devil Wears Prada is a American metalcore band from Dayton, Ohio. They are currently signed to Ferret Records.[2] The band derives its name from an anti-materialistic mindset as stated by vocalist Mike Hranica in several interviews upon the subject. The members of the band only read the book with the same title after choosing their band name.[3]

Biography

In 2005, the band released a demo entitled "Patterns of a Horizon." Its first full length album was released on August 22, 2006, entitled Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord, which featured guest vocals from Cole Wallace of Gwen Stacy. A demo song titled "HTML Rulez d00d" was placed on band's MySpace profile on July 1, 2007. On July 11, absolutepunk.net began to stream their song "Don't Dink and Drance". Plagues, which was released on August 21, 2007, still kept the metalcore sound. On a recent interview with East Coast Romper, the band states their influences are Underoath and Still Remains. The band performed a cover for the rap song "Still Fly", originally performed by Big Tymers, the cover song was released on the compilation album Punk Goes Crunk. Mike Hranica, the band's vocalist, also manages a clothing company called Shipshape Clothing with which he sponsors and endorses bands. Some of Shipshape's sale money goes to charities such as Skate 4 Cancer. The Devil Wears Prada will begin writing and recording a new album after the Warped Tour for a planned release of April 2009.[4] It has been announced via the bands official myspace that they will be debuting a new song off their upcoming record this fall while on tour with Underoath, Saosin, The Famine, P.O.S., and Person L. All three of those bands will be touring at different times throughout the tour, none of them will tour the whole tour.[5]

The band participated in Taco Bell's 2008 installment of Feed the Beat. On October 24, the band went through to the first round as one of the top 24 bands, and continued through to the top 12 bands. On November 7, the band was eliminated from the final round. The band is currently recording their new album, which during the 2008 tour they performed one of their new curently untitled songs. The album is expected to be released in Spring of 2009. The music is supposedly going to be much darker and heavier than their last two albums, with very deathcore inspired songs and riffs.[citation needed]

The Devil Wears Prada are scheduled to tour the US and Canada from March to May with A Day to Remember, Sky Eats Airplane and Emarosa. They are also scheduled to perform at Warped Tour 09 and will be playing on the entire tour.
