WebsitePier Shops at Caesars

The Pier Shops at Caesars is a shopping mall located on the four-story Pier at Caesars on the Atlantic City Boardwalk adjacent to Caesars Atlantic City in Atlantic City, New Jersey via second-story skybridge, constructed by Perini Building Company of Framingham, MA. It was opened in 1906 as the Million Dollar Pier, being renamed as The Shops on Ocean One in 1983 and again in 2006 as The Pier Shops at Caesars.

The pier contains many upscale stores, like Gucci, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Armani A/X, bebe and Burberry, and nine restaurants, including Philadelphia restaurateur Stephen Starr's Buddakan and The Continental, Boston restaurateur Patrick Lyons' Game On!, Trinity Pub & Carvery, and Sonsie, as well as Phillips Seafood of Baltimore. It also contains a wedding chapel.

The mall is divided into four sections:

  • The Boardwalk (first floor): Flooring on this level is designed to look like the Atlantic City Boardwalk and the shops tend to focus around gifts, entertainment, and moderate to upscale stores.
  • The Skybridge (second floor): There is direct access from Caesars through the skybridge, allowing shoppers to avoid stepping outside to brave the weather. The more upscale shops are located on this level and the design is such that the dark blue, sparkling marble flooring and the LED lights embedded in the ceiling give the impression of shopping under the stars.
  • The Promenade (third floor): The restaurants/bars/clubs are all located on this level on the north side of the mall. The south side of the mall is a glass window with Adirondack chairs placed in sand to give shoppers a place to relax and feel like they are at the beach, even though they are in a climate controlled shopping environment.
  • The Club (fourth floor)

Accident

On Saturday, August 9, 2008, a 25 year old from New Jersey fell while seated on the escalator handrail. He fell 40 feet (12 m) and later died at the hospital.[1]

Fountain

"The Show" is the largest indoor water fountain display in a mall setting. It opened in June 2006. The fountain is choreographed and interactive with game features. The fountain show performs on the hour and has both a day show and a night show. The show is routinely met with applause from audiences. Generally, the most popular viewing spot is from the mall's second floor. [1]

The pier opened in 2006 as part of the Atlantic City Revitalization Project.

Future stores opening in early 2009

As of January 2009, neither of these stores have opened.
