Since he is associated with 4 articles in wikipedia, I figured I should add the stub. The reasons brought up for deleting the article in the first place are no longer the case. If someone could please improve on this article I would highly appreciate it. If you would like to delete the article please discuss it here before doing so, thanks. For reference the 4 articles are: Human-based computation, CAPTCHA, Guessing game, and ESP Game. --JVittes 06:33, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I honestly wonder if "He is quoted several times on cmubash.org." should be listed here, it doesn't seem encyclopedic, I know the page needs work, and I'll get to it eventually. --JVittes 17:17, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a link to a ~1 hour lecture by von Ahn on Google Video regarding image recognition. It may be relevant, but I have not watched it in its entirety. f I correctly recall, the lecture was delivered at the Google campus on 26 July 2006: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8246463980976635143 Also, isn't it redundant to mention his MacArthur status twice in the article? Can't find the CMU class wiki as featured in the Pgh Post Gazette

Nice article on a wiki used in class at CMU. But the headline must mean open to all students, and not the public. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07042/761175-298.stm

  • As a current student of von Ahn's, I can verify that the wiki is only available to students in the class. In order to prevent vandalism, each student is issued an account at the start of the semester and cannot edit without using that account. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DoctorWorm (talkcontribs).

Perhaps the popular press article should get a pointer on his page? Rauterkus 02:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update

The article on Luis is slightly more than a stub. Only a few users have posted on the talk page, indicating that few people are working on the article. One of the posters, JVittes, writes: "If someone could please improve on this article I would highly appreciate it." I will add more info to the page. I am Luis's student, and I have read his papers so I can easily write more about him and his research. 2:00pm, 7 September 2007 (EST)

Giramacristo's Puzzle

I've reinserted the original paragraph about Giramacristo's Puzzle. This homework assignment was not very interesting by itself. The unique thing about it was that von Ahn posted the solution first, just to see if any of his students would look at it. This was the entire and sole purpose of mathpuzzlesgallore.org, and the web site contains nothing but the solution to that one puzzle.[1] The puzzle itself wasn't the point of the paragraph, the point was von Ahn's unconventional approach. --CMUalum (talk) 02:43, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless of your point, there is absolutely no evidence regarding his motives or purposes behind the assignment. Additionally, the website is down so there is no verifiable way to talk about it at all. Lack of pages on Google is not evidence of lack of pages on the website. Anybody can set up a content filled website and then use robots.txt to stop indexing. This subject's notability is dubious at best, and even worse, it is unverifiable on a biography of a living person. Copysan (talk) 07:23, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The web site was there yesterday, but does seem to be down now. Okay, I'm removing this until I can find a better source. --CMUalum (talk) 16:50, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
