Crunk Rock is the solo debut album by Atlanta based Rapper & producer Lil Jon. Numerous release dates have been given for three years but none have come to fruition.

Repeated Album Delay

Originally scheduled for release in mid-2006, it was rescheduled for the end of 2007, then "sometime" in 2008 [2][3] [4]. In November of 2007, he reported that the album was "65 percent, maybe 70 percent done" [4] [5].

"Crunk Rock" is now to be released in the summer of 2009, as said on Lil Jon's Myspace page.

TVT Records Dispute

Before recording the album, Lil Jon severed his negotiation with record label TVT. The self-proclaimed "King of Crunk" has settled his dispute with his label. Two years ago, Jon vowed to never record for TVT Records again, citing that TVT owner Steve Gottlieb was shortchanging him [6].

After a long battle and negotiations with TVT, we worked out our differences. TVT cut the check and now it's time for me to get back to work," Jon said in a statement. "Crunk Rock is going to be some next level shit."[6]

Album Info

Crunk Rock features the hit single "Snap Yo Fingers", featuring E-40 and Sean Paul of the YoungBloodZ. The second single is called "Act a Fool", featuring Three 6 Mafia. The song was available on Lil Jon's MySpace page on Halloween 2006, immediately attracting listeners with approximately 580,000 plays in the first day.

Jon has said that half of Crunk Rock will feature the rock-influenced sound heard on Trick Daddy's "Let's Go". The other half will sound like his past hits "Get Low" and "What U Gon' Do" [2].

I worked with the guitar player from P.O.D., Marcos, a punk band called Whole Wheat Bread from Jacksonville, Fla., Kid Rock and a few others, Lil Jon tells Billboard.com. My shit is real rock guitars with my beats, not keyboard guitars with ghetto beats. It's gonna be a little different from what you hear right now, but I think everyone will love it[7]

.

Numerous artists were "lined up" to guest on the album, including P.O.D., Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, Kid Rock, Ciara, Ice Cube, 50 Cent, R. Kelly, Remy Ma, Lil Wayne, T.I., The Game, Gucci Mane, Fabo from D4L, Three 6 Mafia, T-Pain and Whole Wheat Bread.[3]

The title is also a play on the genre name "punk rock".

The first official single is "I Do" featuring Snoop Dogg and Swizz Beatz, produced by Swizz Beatz [8]
