A bit of an exaggeration -- many names appear but few are included in he Biography Resource Center ... this is their criteria:
<blockquote>
The Biography Resource Center is a comprehensive database of biographical information on nearly 220,000 people from throughout history, around the world and across all disciplines and subject areas. It combines more than 330,000 biographies from respected Gale sources such as Contemporary Authors, Encyclopedia of World Biography, Newsmakers, Contemporary Theatre, Film, and Television, Contemporary Musicians, Historic World Leaders, Notable Twentieth-Century Scientists, Contemporary Black Biography, Religious Leaders of America, International Dictionary of Art and Artists, Writers Directory and many more.
</blockquote>
Remove presidents (from Washington to Obama), heads of state, legislators, Supreme Court judges (and international equivalents) and the list shrinks from a quarter million to a more manageable level. Lipton, William Lawrence (1944-) is still on that list. How many of those deemed notable for being contestants on a game show (who might well be on Wikipedia) are represented at that level of notability -- sufficient to be important to researchers using the Harvard Library (as opposed to Googling)? As for other objections - they amount to excluding someone because they don't have a 40 year old Village Voice reference; placing such a footnote above the validity of standards set by The Biography Resource Center.
