Medical School in the Caribbean is a 4 or 6 year teaching institution that awards various types of doctoral degrees in medicine. These degrees include but are not limited to Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and the British counterpart M.B.B.S.

Caribbean medical schools are generally recognized by their local governments and an international certifying agency IMED.[1] Many of these universities however, prepare graduates for licensing exclusively in the United States or Canada.

The World Health Organization and U.S. Certification

Though many countries will only recognize foreign graduates' primary medical qualifications if they have been obtained from a WHO certified school, this is not the case with the United States. The WHO is not a criterion for licensing as it is regulated by the ECFMG.[2]
