I disagree. He's an arrogant jerk, who likes to throw chalk at his students when he gets upset. completely inappropriate behavior for a Professor. By my junior year, every time I walked into a class and saw him, I turned around and walked out. Maxvip (talk) 13:05, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Obvious to me. Perhaps you should go read the thesis? A paragraph on gjs' PhD thesis would be a worthwhile add to this biography. It was and remains groundbreaking work. Lentower 20:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GNU?

He's been an active supporter of rms and GNU, as well as a contributor, since before the beginning and has been a Director of the Free Software Foundation since its founding. He is listed as a director on the FSF web site and in the WP article: Free Software Foundation. He and Abelson also switched MIT Scheme from one of the first free software copyright use notices to the GPL a while back. You're right that this needs to be added to this biography.
