Amanda Maureen Martin (née Dillon) is a fictional character from the American daytime All My Children. She is currently portrayed by actress Chrishell Stause (May 4, 2005 to present).

Amanda Dillon is the daughter of Trevor and ex-convict Janet Green Dillon, as Amanda was conceived during at time when her mother was posing as Natalie Marlowe.

Storyline

Amanda's mother, Janet, changes her insane ways and tries to be more like Natalie. During her childhood years, Amanda becomes friends with Jamie Martin and JR Chandler. The Dillon family later move to Colorado. Amanda then decide to move back in May 2005 to attend school at Pine Valley University.

When Amanda returns, she falls asleep in JR’s bed after driving all the way from Colorado. JR thinks she is a prostitute hired to incriminate him, until Tad Martin reminds him who she is. Amanda plots to incriminate new nanny Di Henry by stealing money from the Chandler safe. JR confronts her, and she comes up with a story of how she did not have any money because Janet was back to her old ways and Trevor was not working worrying about her. JR sees through her sob story, and instead decides to use Amanda in his plot for revenge against Jamie and his ex-wife Babe Carey. Once Amanda sees how Jamie has grown up, she is happy to oblige.

Amanda’s plotting leads her to have true feelings for Jamie. Her job is made easier when Phoebe Tyler Wallingford dies and leaves her estate to Jamie on the criteria that he breaks up with Babe. Babe breaks off her relationship with Jamie, but warns Amanda to keep her scheming hands off of him.

Amanda pursues Aidan Devane while his girlfriend, Anita Santos, is out of town. A young blonde girl continuously stands in her way when it comes to flirting with Aidan. One day, she angers at the girl, only to find out she is Lily Montgomery. Lily tells Amanda she had changed and that she feared being like her mother.

Nothing stands between Amanda and Jamie. She is prepared to go as far as to drug Jamie to get him to marry her. When Jamie finds out, he is determined to send Amanda packing. Amanda has a break down and admits she can never go home. Janet is back to her old self again, and Amanda is the target of her insanity. Jamie promises to protect Amanda, but tells her she needs to get Janet psychological help.

JR, Jamie and Babe all eventually turn on Amanda, although it takes Jamie longer than the others. Babe informs Jamie that Amanda had planned to drug him and marry him to get her hands on the Wallingford money. Jamie washes his hands of her, but it does not last long. He is soon back in her life, although she has no idea that Jamie is trying to get the goods on her. She gets a new job working for Josh Madden and Erica Kane at New Beginnings, but she soon begins experiencing blackouts. When horrible things start happening to the residents of Pine Valley during her blackouts, Amanda begins to worry that she is the one hurting people.

Blackout incidents

When drunken JR hits Amanda with his car, Babe Carey takes the blame for JR, so that Amanda believes Babe is responsible for hitting her, only adding to the enmity between them. Amanda begins experiencing blackouts, and during these times, odd events begin occurring: Babe is pushed down a flight of stairs, the Chandlers' Thanksgiving soup is poisoned, Little Adam Chandler is kidnapped. Amanda secretly fears that she is responsible for these events. She can't remember if she caused them, all the while defending herself against Babe and JR's accusations. Jamie, himself suspecting Amanda, plays her champion to get information.

Amanda confesses her blackouts to Josh. Josh begins to sabotage Erica, even going so far as drugging her, and frames Amanda. By this time, Amanda realizes that Janet is responsible for the crimes she is accused of around Pine Valley, but Amanda protects her mother out of maternal loyalty. As Amanda tries to convince her mother to seek counseling, she is thrown in prison for drugging Erica. Her innocence later proven, Amanda realizes her mother is planning on blowing up a charity event and rushes to stop her. Amanda is unable to, and people die in the explosion.

After kidnapping Babe, Janet is caught, but Amanda learns that in her madness, Janet had killed Trevor Dillon. Amanda, depressed and ostracized for protecting Janet for so long, is given a job by Dr. Greg Madden. Greg, a fertility doctor, convinces a vulnerable Amanda to become a surrogate mother, secretly motivated by his own nefarious intentions. However, Greg is buried in the park and dies before he can even get Amanda fertilized with an egg.

Amanda soon focuses her attention on keeping Lily Montgomery, her one-time stepsister and Jonathan Lavery, Lily's new husband, together. Jonathan, who has mentally suffered from the removal of a brain tumor for months, regains his mentality back. However, he begs Amanda to keep it a secret when she finds out because he doesn't want to hurt the autistic Lily. However, Lily finds out and soon dumps Jonathan, breaking his heart, while Amanda realizes she has fallen for Jonathan. She eventually seduces him, the start of their romantic relationship. Their romantic mingling eventually ends, however, due to Amanda realizing that Jonathan will never love her as deeply as he loves Lily and she cannot continue to be a "friend with benefits".

JR's blackmail

Amanda's life rebounds months after. She secures a job at ConFusion and renews her friendship with Babe. She soon lives at Wildwind at Julia Santos' invitation, and becomes involved in a sexual relationship with JR; Kendall Hart Slater and Aidan warn her not to get involved with him. When JR tells Amanda that he is broke, she pushes him in the lake. They soon break up. Amanda later secures a job at the Fusion Cosmetics office working under Babe.

After being kidnapped, Amanda and JR reconnect. The two come together and she later discovers that JR was behind their kidnapping. In order to keep her silent, JR promises to pay her a large sum of money. The two agree to work together to con Adam Chandler, but the kidnapping goes astray when Zach Slater interfers. Amanda later blackmails Adam with a tape of J.R. confessing to his crimes which includes a timestamp in order to get him out of jail for a hit-and-run. She obtains the yacht that JR was living in (which was once sold to Adam by Erica Kane) and a sum of money. With the money, Amanda says she will put her mother in a better institution where she get treated better. Since her blackmailing of JR's freedom, Amanda's relationship with Babe has weakened.

With Babe's help, Kendall and Greenlee Smythe promote Amanda from personal assistant to a partnership in Fusion. Amanda is arrested in June 2008 for prostitution while helping Babe get information from a prostitute. Amanda is released when she gets to the police station. She and Babe launch a new perfume for Fusion, called Bella. She also starts a relationship with Jake Martin and befriends Taylor Thompson, an Iraq war veteran. Jake and Amanda break up and she gets comfort from an unlikely place -- David Hayward. The two soon kiss and end up sleeping together. She explains that JR "being an ass" is part of the reason why she has sex with David and soon schemes to get revenge on JR.

Pregnancy

January 19, 2009, Amanda learns that she is pregnant. She does not know who the father of the baby is; she had sex with both David and JR. Amanda plans to get an abortion just as JR learns of her pregnancy. Amanda then decides to the give the baby up for adoption.

Amanda goes to Ryan Lavery and Greenlee Smythe to see if they would raise her child by adoption. Ryan and Greenlee tell Amanda it is not the right time for them to adopt. Amanda wants to find another couple to raise her child but after finding Kathy, Tad's daughter, wandering the marina, Amanda takes Kathy back to her yacht and decides to keep the baby after Kathy tells her, "I want a mommy that will stay." On February 4, 2009, it is revealed that David is the father of her baby.

Amanda is trying to protect both her baby and JR from David. Amanda says that JR fathered her baby because she wants him to get sober. He finds out eventually that the baby is Hayward's. He helps keep it a secret. She decides she is not ready for a baby as well as not wanting David to take the baby. She is currently contemplating to keep the baby or not.

Amanda is reading a book about the dangers of childbirth when Jake joins her in the restaurant. He reassures her - the baby is not going to die! He jokes that the baby is so strong that they could deliver him right now! Amanda worries about saying goodbye to the baby.

Krystal turns up at the restaurant and tells Amanda and Jake that David's been taken in for questioning in Stuart's murder. Amanda says if he goes to prison he won't be able to take her baby! Amanda is tickled at the idea of David going to prison, but Jake warns that he always finds a way to slither out of trouble. Amanda says they could actually consider keeping the baby. Jake points out that she said 'we'. She nods. Jake proposes to her on the spot - she says 'yes'. On June 11, Jake and Amanda are married by Tad who became an online minster. On June 12, 2009, Amanda gives birth to a healthy baby boy, David's son. David tracks her and Jake down at a clinic and they let David believe that their son died, which sends David into despair. Amanda doesn't know that Jake gave her son to Liza Colby his old ex-girlfriend who pretended to be pregnant.

The viewers were led to think that Liza has the baby. Then we later find out that Jake didn't really give Amanda's baby to Liza. He actually gave her a baby who was put for adoption. Jake placed Amanda's baby who is cared for by a nurse in the country. Amanda saw her baby and names him Trevor (after he deceased father). Baby Trevor is currently staying with Taylor in disguise as a baby girl named Tracy by Tad, so Trevor can be close to Amanda and Jake.
