The film was produced by Gemini Films Circuit and distributed by Sun Pictures. The film's title was taken from the 1980 Tamil film of the same name.

Plot

Shakthi (Sakthi) with his golden voice is the doyen of the college campus. Shiva (Prithviraj) is a firebrand student leader with leanings towards the left. Vasu (Karthik Kumar) leads the opposite faction. Meera (Priyamani) is the daughter of the local MLA and a danseuse who wins numerous awards for the college with her performance. Esthappanachan (Jagathy Sreekumar) is the hostel warden. It was Shakti's dream that these classmates should have a reunion ten years from graduation. But he dies under mysterious circumstances. His parents, Prof. Iyer (K. Bhagyaraj) and Lakshmi Teacher who both teach at the college decide to fulfill their departed son's dream and bring his classmates together for a reunion. Shiva is now a diamond dealer in Mumbai. Vasu is now an MLA. Meera, still unmarried, now runs a dancing school. And now the truth of Sakthi's death and his love with shalini comes out in the reunion. The coming together of these classmates is an occasion for the participants to regurgitate the past and go nostalgic.
