The Weather Channel Latin America was a version of The Weather Channel founded in 1996 in some Latin American Spanish language countries like Mexico and Argentina and a Portuguese language version was created two years later, in 1998. The channel opered until December 20, 2002, where the two versions (In Spanish and in Portuguese) ended to transmite their signals.
Programs
- Panorama: Similar to Weekend Now. The forecast in the weekends.
- Destinos (Destinations): The 3-day forecast for cities in Florida (at 13 min of each hour) and cities in Latin America, like Acapulco, Rio de Janeiro and Santo Domingo (at 43 min each hour).
- Nuestro Planeta/ Nosso Planeta (Our Planet): Many curiosities about the Earth.
Pronóstico Local / Previsão Local
The Latin American version of Local on the 8s. Was used a version for WeatherStar XL and were broadcasted all minutes ending in the 0/10/20/30/40/50 minutes for each hour in Spanish language version and in 5/15/25/35/45/55 minutes each hour in Brazil.
The End of the Channel
The Weather Channel ended its operations in Latin America at December 20, 2002 because the manager of the channel thought to be better doing this than having to reduce costs in the U.S. to continue maintaining matrix the two channels.
