Lyssa Drak is a fictional alien supervillainesse published by DC Comics. First appearing in Green Lantern vol. 4 #18 (May 2007), she was created by Geoff Johns and Dave Gibbons.

Fictional character biography

Lyssa Drak was recruited by Sinestro to join the "Sinestro Corps" which is based in the anti-matter universe on the planet of Qward.

Lyssa Drak is the keeper of the Book of Parallax for the Sinestro Corps, to which she is chained for life. This book contains the lifestories of many of the Sinestro Corps' finest members and tells stories of Despotellis[1], Karu-Sil[2], and Bedovian[3], some of which she read to Amon Sur before his first mission. It is a counterpart to the Book of Oa, which serves a similar role for the Green Lantern Corps.

When introducing herself to Amon Sur, Drak hinted that she had the ability to sense the feelings of others. Lyssa Drak is from Talok IV, one of the three inhabitable worlds in the Talokian star system that Lydea Mallor (Talok VIII), Lyrissa Mallor (Talok VIII), Shadow Lass (Talok VIII) and Mikaal Tomas (Talok III) hail from.[4]

Imprisonment and mental games

During in Sinestro Corps War, she personally battles Hal Jordan. She expresses delight at this, as she predicts she will add her own story to the book. The battle ends with her defeat.[5][6]

As detailed in Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Superboy-Prime, she is kept in a lantern powered cage for a time by the married couple Matoo and Amnee Pree. She terrifies them with a tale of Kryb, the Yellow Lantern who targets Green Lantern's parents, killing them and taking their children. Lyssa frightens the pregnant Amnee with the prediction Kryb will come for their child on the day it is born. This prompts the couple to take Lyssa back to Oan and a Sciencell prison ahead of schedule. Matoo and Amnee decided to head the hunt for Kryb.[7]

She is later seen imprisoned on Oa along with several other members of the Sinestro Corps.[8] During the riot instigated by the Red Lantern Vice, Lyssa is freed and reunited with her ring. She claims that she can once again feel the Book of Parallax.[9] While trying to find her precious book, Lyssa discovered the Guardian Scar's "Book of the Black", and was attacked and imprisoned within its pages by Scar herself.[10]
