Haas Pop

  • In my six years, I have never heard this term before. If nobody steps up within a week, it will be deleted. - NickSentowski 18:42, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agreed. Never heard this used as a real term, even on RSPW. I removed it. --Citizen Sykes (talk) 22:09, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Original Meaning of Pop

  • There needs to be a clean-up of this category in some way. It sounds particularly and needlessly vulgar and unprofessional, especially considering there is no source. I'm not touching it, simply because I don't know if the statement is true or not, but if someone does know for sure, please change the wording. - Gravija 09:18, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to redirect

The term doesn't meet notability guidelines and is a violation of WP:NOTDICTIONARY. This term should be merged and redirected to List of professional wrestling terms. Nikki311 19:20, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, it shouldn't. It is very notable because popping is the gauge that promoters use to predict a wrestler's potential to sell tickets and draw ratings. Popping is one of the most important aspects of a wrestling promotion. Period.Wikieditor1988 (talk) 19:31, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps we could merge it into Heat as they're both two sides of the same coin and maybe have a page called Crowd reaction (professional wrestling)? Tony2Times (talk) 20:56, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not a single source is within the article. Best merge with the terms article. If it was considerably expanded with some third party reliable sites, I would see a reason to keep.--WillC 22:46, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The sources are wrestling message boards. I know that isn't supposed to be a "reliable" source, but keep in mind, this is about SLANG; what better way to find out about slang than to hang around the people who use it? Therefore, this is one of the rare occasions where a message board would be sufficient to use as a source.
Oh, and if you want to argue that Wikipedia is not a dictionary, what about the article that Nikki wants it merged with? How is that anything short of a glossary? It's a DICTIONARY of wrestling slang terms!Wikieditor1988 (talk) 02:06, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
From WP:NOTDICTIONARY: "Descriptive articles about languages, dialects, or types of slang (such as Klingon language, Cockney, or Leet) are desirable." Professional wrestling slang in its entirety has been the subject of at least one scholarly source (Kerrick, George E. (Summer 1980). "The Jargon of Professional Wrestling". American Speech. 55 (2): 142–145. {{cite journal}}: |access-date= requires |url= (help)). Nikki311 02:39, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
