Guru Nanak Institute of Technology is an engineering college located in West Bengal, India. The college was established in 2003 by the JIS Group, in Panihati, Sodpur, a suburb of Kolkata.The The college is an AICTE-approved institution and is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology[1].The college consistently ranks among the first choices of students cracking the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination.
The Campus
The Guru Nanak Institute of Technology(GNIT) campus is located on Nilgunj Road,in Sodpur,at a walking distance of 7 minutes from Sodpur Railway Station.The college campus is one of the largest for private engineering colleges in West Bengal.The college shares the campus with other sister colleges of JIS Group,like Guru Nanak Institute of Dental Sciences and Research,a pharma college, and hospitality management college.

Academics
GNIT offers both undergraduate and post graduate courses in various engineering,as well as computer applications disciplines [2].The college offers B.Tech in Electrical Engineering,Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication Engineering,Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering,Food Technology as well as professional degree courses in computer applications like Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA).All the courses are affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology, Salt Lake, West Bengal. There are about 75 faculty members in the various departments.Prof. Subir Roy is department head of Electrical Engineering.The whole college is connected by WiFi.The library is located in the top floor,and keeps ample books on the relevant disciplines.The library is fully automated with LibSys software.The library keeps regular copies of international journals like those published by IEEE.There is facility for computerized maintenance of lending and receiving of books, a reading room and computers to search books online.
