"Never Leave You"
Song
B-side"It's a Problem"

"Never Leave You" is a song recorded and performed by British grime vocalist, Tinchy Stryder. The song, written by Taio Cruz is the fourth single from Stryder's second studio album, Catch 22 as a 4-track maxi-single on August 2, 2009[1] and then as a regular CD single on August 3, 2009[2] in the United Kingdom. It features guest vocals by Amelle Berrabah, a member of British girl group, the Sugababes and received airplay on many radio stations in the UK including BBC 1Xtra.[3] "Never Leave You" has also reached "The A-List" on the BBC Radio 1 playlist.[4].The music video was released on Stryder's official website on June 24, 2009.[5] On August 9, 2009, "Never Leave You" debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart it was preceded and succeeded by "I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas.[6]

Background

"Never Leave You" is a midtempo R&B-Hip-Hop song with with Grime influences. The song was Amelle's first solo release outside of pop group Sugababes.[7] The song became Stryder's second number 1 hit with his album Catch 22, it also became Amelle's first number 1 single as a solo artists. The song appeared in many different collection albums, including R&B Love Collection Summer 2009.

Critical reception

Rewind eight months and the name Tinchy Stryder would have been met with blank expressions by all but a core of grime fanatics in East London. Now, having bypassed the critics and trend-setters, the 22-year-old rapper has become one of the year's biggest success stories thanks to a winning combination of pop hooks and hip-hop rhymes. Building on the momentum of his recent chart-topper 'Number One', Stryder's back with summer smash-in-waiting 'Never Leave You'.

It finds him sticking to the Europoppy sound of his previous singles, but this time he's drafted in his starriest sparring partner yet - Sugababes singer Amelle Berrabah. He powers through the verses in his distinctive London twang, she croons the glorious chorus, and Fraser T. Smith keeps the production as fresh and sharp as a grapefuit breakfast. Stryder may have started the year as the so-called "Prince of Grime", but... wait for it... he's fast establishing himself as the King of the Charts.[8]

Music video

The music video features Stryder in his Star in The Hood gear in a room and on a chair with bright lights behind him. There are also scenes of Berbarrah and Stryder singing together and Amelle in a white room. Styder and Amelle are seen together in the same room, but a wall going across, so they can not see each other. Then later the colour of the background lights change and they are pictured in X-Ray vision. There are a number of different scences in the video, Berbarrah and Stryder are seen wearing a number of different clothing. There are many scences of Stryder and Amelle sitting on metal-like chairs. They are seen dancing, on the spot. On the end of the video, Stryder is sitting on the metal-like sofa, and Amelle is leaning onto the metal-like sofa, with her hand on her hip.
