Carole Crist, née Carole Oumano (formerly Carole Rome), (born October 20, 1969), an American businesswoman and the First Lady of Florida. She is the wife of Florida Governor Charlie Crist.

Personal

Crist grew up in Roslyn, New York, the youngest of five children of Robert Oumano, who was the owner of the Franco-American Novelty Company, an enterprise which imports practical joke items and Halloween costumes.[3]

She graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in accounting.[4][5]

In 1993 Crist married Blue Star Jet Chief Executive Todd Rome, with whom she has two daughters; they separated early July 2007 and their divorce was finalized March 2008.[6][7]

She currently resides on Fisher Island, Florida.

She and governor Charlie Crist were married on 12 December 2008. This marriage was discussed in the film, Outrage.

After marrying Crist, Carole gave up her children to her ex-husband in New York[8] so she could be a better first lady. So far she spends most of her time in her Fisher Island mini-manse without the governor and without her children.

Career

After her father's death in 2000, Crist ran Franco-American for the next six years. She coined the slogan "Where Fashion Meets Halloween" and changed the focus of the company to more figure-flattering high-fashion costumes. In 2006, she handed over control of Franco-American to her sister, Michele Oumano Powell, but remains a consultant to the business.
