I could dress in a bear suit or space alien costume, I could insist that I am actually a bear or a space alien, but that does not make it so, especially if my passport and my election papers and my biography all state "human, male". Bigotry it isn't, this being a matter of GRAMMAR. Well, that and the fact that calling said person MtF would be incorrect, and straddling the middle line or expressing indefinite gender by using pronoun "it" would certainly bring down wrath aplenty and put the sayer in a world of hurt. According to Italian Law he's a male, he had never showen clearly to want to change into female. He's not properly a Mtf. On Italian WP there's a ridicolous discussion about this matter, full of ideologistic propaganda by a small community which wants to impose the line that he should be referred using female pronouns. Introducing Dedda71 and Dispe, italian users who feel free to start editwar whatever and whenever they want, mostly in order to impose their point of view about what genre should be used to refer to Wladimiro Guadagno aka Vladimir Luxuria. I apologize instead of them for their coalition behaviour and their aggressive approach that drove the article to be blocked, exactly the same they did in the article of Italian WP. If someone would be so kind as to donate a bear suit to me, I promise to start living as a bear. Maybe wikipedia could then call me it or Ursus or something. Meanwhile, for lack of a bear suit, and in following with wikipedia's policy as laid out by Rebecca, might I suggest we edit the articles on Rael and L. Ron Hubbard, to properly reflect their lives as space alien and messiah, respectively? Also, we may want to capitalize all personal pronouns in the latter, just in case!
