In the Swahili version, as well as in external literature, I found that Shaaban R., being of Yao origin, called himself consistently a "Swahili" in the sense of ethnicity, at a time when Swahili was still considered mostly an auxiliary language. Are there any sources whether this has to to with his Islamic creed - and, is it known '''how''' he came to adopt Islam? [[bar:Benutzer:Hellsepp|Hellsepp]] 20:20, 12 May 2010 (UTC) |

Swahili and Islam
In the Swahili version, as well as in external literature, I found that Shaaban R., being of Yao origin, called himself consistently a "Swahili" in the sense of ethnicity, at a time when Swahili was still considered mostly an auxiliary language. Are there any sources whether this has to to with his Islamic creed - and, is it known how he came to adopt Islam? Hellsepp 20:20, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
