Shwan Saman Jalal (born 14 August 1983) is a footballer who plays for Bournemouth as a goalkeeper. Born in Iraq, he played for the England C team from 2005 to 2006.

Club career

Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Jalal grew up in Hastings, England, while attending William Parker School. He began his playing career at Hastings Town, where he had been featuring for the first team whilst still a teenager, gaining attention from Football League clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur whom he signed for in August 2002, before joining Woking in May 2004.[2] He went on trial at Oldham Athletic in May 2005.[3] He had a trial at Leeds United in September 2006,[4] after which he joined Sheffield Wednesday on a month's loan in November,[5] but failed to make any appearances during this spell.[6]

He moved to Peterborough United in League Two for an undisclosed fee on 9 January 2007.[7] He was placed on the club's transfer list at his own request in December 2007,[8] which was followed by a move to Morecambe on loan until the end of the 2007–08 season.[9]

He joined Bournemouth on a month's loan in August 2008 after having a trial at the club.[10] Bournemouth then made this move permanent in August.[11] He signed a new two-year contract with Bournemouth in March 2010.[12]

International career

Jalal made his debut for the England National Game XI in a 3–0 victory over against Holland on 16 February 2005.[13]
