:You have had a good day though! Thanks for adding those references, paper ones (not online) are just as good and sometimes better than online ones. I am impressed! OK, I think I am done. I have added the last couple of refernces I can and think I have exhausted what little is out there. I have linked the page to Clemens and the Guadalcanal Campaign. I have alerted some folks at the National Museum of the Marine Corps to the page's presence, perhaps the can add some more names. I guess final review & we can take those templates down? Maybe?

Requests for adminship and bureaucratship update
No current discussions. Recent RfAs, recent RfBs: (successful, unsuccessful)

Thanks

The page I am trying to create is very personal to many people, thus it is personal to me as well. Because of that I find my frustrations being vented in a personal manner. I did not intend to appear frustrated with you personally. I understand you volunteer for this task of protecting Wikipedia from random irrelevant articles. For that I thank you. Keep up the good work ensuring correct protocol posture on Wikipedia. Bullmoosebell (talk) 18:59, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No worries I have not taken it personally. I have stepped back from this situation to avoid inflaming it as I see that others are helping you out with your questions and concerns. Good luck and stay safe in Iraq! -- RP459 Talk/Contributions 22:30, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

Thank you very much for your contribution to my Rfa. I have made a comment about it at User talk:JamesBWatson#Your Request for Adminship which you are, of course, very welcome to read if you wish to. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:51, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  1. When nominating a category for deletion, please tag it with a {{subst:cfd}} to the category page. This should alert users viewing the category that it's up for deletion.
  2. Per Wikipedia:Speedy keep, a deletion nomination where the nominator changes his/her mind (when no one else supports deletion) is one of the criteria for speedy keep. In such cases:
    1. Add {{subst:cfd top|'''Withdrawn'''. ~~~~}} just under the title line (in WP:MFD, over the title line), and {{subst:cfd bottom}} at the end of the section.
    2. Remove the deletion tag from the category page.

Thanks for the heads up! I have never performed a non-admin closure of an XfD. -- RP459 Talk/Contributions 00:59, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Thank for for the star and kind words. Of course I would make that edit, my word is generally good, I hope. Herostratus (talk) 02:48, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It took balls to go through what you just did. That edit was just the final step in an ugly and long road, I would like to think I would have held my head high as you did. If you ever decide you want the bit back you have my support. -- RP459 Talk/Contributions 14:33, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank You For The Exceptional New Commer Award

I really thak u for your award and wait for my calling in the debates that I'm involved. I need your op, after all u r the first (and only one so far) who welcomed me. Thank u and best regards...Oz an (talk) 02:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)oz_an[reply]

Your welcome, the best advice I can give you is to start slow and try to learn as many of the rules as possible. Trust me, that is a really tough task, I learn new things all the time and I have been here for 2 years. WP:VOTE and WP:CANVASS are two really good places to start for discussing changes. Stay onside with them and your halfway on your way, remember interested editors are already watching the talk pages that you are editing... One of the best things about Wikipedia is the links, follow them an you never know where you will end up. -- RP459 Talk/Contributions 03:37, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dramaout

There is a note on the dramaout page that those who missed it can do it late! Start this week? Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 15:07, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback

Hello, RP459. You have new messages at Blue ridge plankowner's talk page.
Message added 06:30, 14 July 2010 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.[reply]

This guy doesn't get it I'm thinking. He has a clear COI too with the username. -MBK004 06:30, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have posted a COI notice on his page, hopefully he reads it. So far the edits mean well and have expanded the article. I would like to try and work with the editor but am very busy at work... -- RP459 Talk/Contributions 15:40, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome!

I appreciate the kind welcome & offer for help.

I am posting my first major page Faciat Georgius. I would LOVE any help or suggestions. My goal for today is just to post the thing, I plan to go thru and tighten it down over the next couple days.

--KaosDad (talk) 16:40, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Will do, I had a look and one thing that you will need to look at at include is reliable sources to back up this article. Please see WP:RS, otherwise you risk it being deleted on the basis that it does not pass WP:NOTABILITY. -- RP459 Talk/Contributions 16:58, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I am done for the day. Sadly, my references are few as a number of my personal references are no longer available on the internet.

--KaosDad (talk) 18:55, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have had a good day though! Thanks for adding those references, paper ones (not online) are just as good and sometimes better than online ones. I am impressed! -- RP459 Talk/Contributions 22:43, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request

Just a small, light-hearted request:

When editing articles, would it be possible to do all of your edits in one sitting, rather than editing one small section at a time, then reading the next and editing that? This stops you flooding edit notifications onto the "View history" page of an article.

Regards, Ready (talk) 17:18, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly probably not, when I am expanding an article substantially I do this but when I am tagging it with various tags or adding refs I typically do them one at a time. This typically does not flood a page history as I am not typically a content builder (with lots of edits to a page), except for the occasional article which I am trying to expand... Which page was it a problem on? -- RP459 Talk/Contributions 17:28, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a look at you contributions page, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/RP459 , you can see what I mean. Notably "Faciat Georgius" on that first page. Ready (talk) 17:39, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I had a feeling that you meant my edits to that article this morning. The reason I edit the way I do when cleaning up articles is individual problems or thoughts are individual edits. That way if you don't like one of my thoughts or edits it is easy to undo and WP:BEBOLD. Talk to you later. -- RP459 Talk/Contributions 22:21, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, thanks for replying promptly... happy editing! Ready (talk~~contributions) 22:38, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
