Benjamin "Ben" Quayle (born November 5, 1976) is an American lawyer, businessman and the Republican candidate in the United States House of Representatives elections, 2010 for Arizona's 3rd congressional district.[1]

He is the second son of former Vice President Dan Quayle and his wife Marilyn. Ben Quayle was born three days after his father was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1976.[2]

He attended Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School [citation needed] in Indianapolis, Longfellow Intermediate School[failed verification] in Falls Church, Virginia, St. Albans School and Gonzaga College High School[clarification needed][3] in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Duke University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and earned a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2002.[4]

Quayle was an associate at the law firms Schulte Roth & Zabel (2004–05) and Snell & Wilmer (2006–07), before becoming founder and managing director of Tynwald Capital, a firm specializing in the acquisition and nurturing of small business.[4][5]

2010 U.S. Congressional campaign

On February 12, 2010 he announced his candidacy in the 2010 U.S. House election for Arizona's 3rd congressional district. He is seeking to succeed the retiring U.S. Rep. John Shadegg, an eight-term Republican.

The campaign launched after his father's declaration on cable news that Ben was a candidate.[6] Quayle has voted in all general elections, though he has not voted in local Arizona elections.[7]

On August 11, 2010 Quayle released an advertisement, in which he called U.S. President Barack Obama the "worst president in history."[8] The ad generated media attention,[9][10][11][12] including within forty-eight hours drawing a parody version from the Chicago-based comedy group The Second City.[13]

Quayle has made national headlines for a series of campaign gaffes that included using someone else's children in a campaign mailer and denying – before offering a qualified acknowledgment – that he had blogged for a defunct raunchy website called DirtyScottsdale.com, it has since been renamed Thedirty.com.
