Black Veil Brides (abbreviated BVB) is an American rockband[2] which formed 2006 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, currently signed to the label StandBy Records. They have two EP's, Sex & Hollywood and Never Give In, and their debut album, We Stitch These Wounds was released July 20, 2010.[3][4]
History
Formation and Sex & Hollywood, Never Give In (2006-2009)
The origin of the name according to Andy Six (Andrew Dennis Biersack), is on his fascination for the Roman Catholic Church and the dark image that it evokes. When a nun has her coronation, she is marrying God and they literally had a ceremony in which they are dressed in a black veil because she was yielding herself to the principal pleasures of the life.[5] The only founding member of the band who is currently in the band is Andy. During these years, with a varied group of recording for the constant changes in the band, they were able to throw 2 EP's out, one called Sex & Hollywood, which contained 3 songs, and had a very limited release, and the second one called Never Give In, which had 6 songs and was released in America and Europe only by order via Itunes. The band was very much unknown until the success of the single "Knives and Pens" which earned over 15,000,000 YouTube.com views as of September, 2010.[6] Since then they have become immensely popular online, with many of their other songs posted to the YouTube.com site achieving anywhere from 500,000 to 1,000,000+ views.[7]
We Stitch These Wounds and recent events (2009-present)
Andy had stated that Sandra Alvarenga had been dating Chris Hollywood (guitarist) and later became BVB's new drummer and on July 25, 2009, BVB announced that Ashley Purdy had joined the band, and that a new demo was in the works. Another member joined known as Pan. He played guitar and commented on Chris as being lazy and umcommited. He was fired in late 2009. They signed in September, 2009 with Standby Records.[8] In September, 2009, Chris Hollywood left the band and Jinxx entered. Jake Pitts joined the band as lead guitarist in November, 2009. The lineup complete, the band embarked on their first US tour in December, 2009. [9] The songs are written by Jake Pitts, Jinxx, and Andy. Guitar solos are written mostly by Jake Pitts, but Jinxx also contributes solos on a few of the tracks. Jinxx also plays violin on "The Mortician's Daughter","Carolyn" and "Knives and Pens(Acoustic)". [10]
In February, 2010, the band began to record at Clear Lake Audio in Van Nuys, California, a debut album with producer Blasko, which was released July 20, 2010. The video of Perfect Weapon, the first single off the album, was released on June 14 on the official youtube channel.
Black Veil Brides just finished the Hot Topic presents: The Sacred Ceremony Tour with special guests Vampires Everywhere!, Modern Day Escape and Get Scared playing cities across the US and Canada.
They just announced a new tour on their Myspace page called the "Entertainment or Death Tour". They are going to some of the same places they went to on their last tour, including The Palladium in Worcester, MA.
On September 4, 2010, the band announced that Sandra would be leaving BVB to go solo and that Christian “CC” Coma would be taking her place for the upcoming tour.
