Changing username/Simple
This page is a forum in which users can request, and global renamers (including stewards) can consider and carry out, requests to rename accounts to usernames that are not yet taken on any Wikimedia project. While global renamers carry out renames, other users (including bots) help by "clerking" the mechanics of this process. If you wish to help as a clerk, please read the linked page carefully.

Instructions
For help 'vanishing' from Wikipedia,
please see courtesy vanishing.

Once you have decided on the name you would like:

  1. Read this page first. You must be aware of, and understand, all of that information before requesting a username change
  2. Check to make sure this username is not already in use. Do this by searching for the name here. If the name appears in the results, even if on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
  3. Do not create an account under the new name or move/redirect your userpages. We'll do that for you.
  4. Log in with your present username in order to place your request. Renames will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Click here to place your request.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=
    • Do not change anything after CURRENT=
  6. Make sure that you have spelt your desired name correctly, including capitalization and spacing. Save the page. If your request is submitted malformed, please remedy it according to this page.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any questions that may arise regarding your request. Please be patient. It may take a few days for your request to be completed. If you do not answer any questions, your request may be declined due to no response.
  8. Once your request has been completed, please do not remove or change your request. It will be archived automatically by a bot.
  • Requests that do not adhere to these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

Important Notes After you are renamed...
  • Due to technical limitations, usernames may not start with a lowercase letter. However, you may use the template {{lowercase title}} on your user and user talk pages, and change your signature to reflect your preference.
  • Underscores and spaces are considered identical by the MediaWiki software.
  • Use of a company, organization, group, website, or product name as a username is prohibited by the username policy.
  • Please understand the implications of using your real name before requesting a name change to it.
  • ... your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited.
  • ... your userpage and any subpages will be moved to the new name automatically. Please do not attempt to move them yourself.
  • ... links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be left behind to your new userpage.
  • ... your request will be automatically moved to the archives in the interest of transparency.

Superpi.esa → Superpi.nl

Bureaucrat note: Are you in any way associated with Super Pi? The Rambling Man (talk) 12:05, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

InsuranceDesigner25 → GreenAndGold25

Bureaucrat note: Can you assure us that you will not be using Wikipedia as a vehicle for advertising? The Rambling Man (talk) 16:16, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My only intentions are to inform the public about the history of the company and what they do currently--which is no different, and in all actually less promotional than what companies like Pepsi, McDonald's, and the Hartford have on their pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by InsuranceDesigner25 (talkcontribs) 16:00, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The difference is those pages are articles, instead of advertisements - and they are based on reliable sources that establish encyclopedic notability and are written in an encyclopedic tone. See WP:CORP. –xenotalk 16:08, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I did discuss that with another Admin, and it was agreed that I could post when I have that information, which I did obtain. So I'm not sure why I have been blocked--again? I haven't posted anything since I was blocked the last time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by InsuranceDesigner25 (talkcontribs) 18:52, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Done I've performed the rename, to avoid you being blocked for the username issue again (but this won't necessarily prevent you being blocked for promotion if you re-insert promotional content). My suggestion would be to present the reliable sources that establish encyclopedic notability at WP:AFC, rather than creating the article yourself in conflict of interests. –xenotalk 18:59, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

NCCCOpaul → Pknapp63

Bureaucrat note: You are aware of WP:COI (particularly if you are, in any way, affiliated with NCCCO)...? The Rambling Man (talk) 16:29, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wifirush → WiFiRUSH

Bureaucrat note: Please see our policy regarding conflicts of interest, which you appear to be in violation of. EVula // talk // // 06:05, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PeterJJoyce → Brighams

Bureaucrat note: If we proceed with the rename, a link will be created from your old username to your new one. You only have three edits, so you may want to have me rename your current account to something random and create a new account for your future use. Or I can proceed with the rename. Either way. Useight (talk) 22:28, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jeffrey Hunker → Alhalt-Zerbst

Bureaucrat note: Please read WP:COI, which you may be in violation of. bibliomaniac15 07:29, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Keelaweelah → MetaphoricallySpeaking

Bureaucrat note: This is your first edit. Please elaborate on why you need this rename, and what it is you want hidden. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 12:10, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Janaspiroska → EU Training

Not done The target name is ostensibly that of a company or group. Such names are not within policy. Please submit a request for a username which meets Wikipedia policy. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 12:24, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
