Chennithala is a village in Mavelikkara taluk of Alleppey district, Kerala, South India. It belongs to old Onattukara. This village is comprised mainly of paddy fields and coconut groves. The late kathakali dancer Chennithala Chellappan Pillai and KPCC President Sri. Ramesh Chennithala lived here.
The educational institutions of the area include Mahatma Boys high school, Mahatma high school for Girls, Navodaya Vidyalaya and a few lower and upper primary schools run by the state government.

Thripperumphurai Mahadevar temple, Karahzma devitemple, Chala Mahadevar temple, Puthuvila Bhagavathi temple, Kannannoor Devi temple and Irampaman Subrammania swamy temple are temples of the area.

Valiya perumpumpuzha bridge connects it to Thattarampalam in south of chennithala and is inaugurated in the year 2002. Achankovil River flows through Chennithala.
Chennithala village is 4 km north from Mavelikkara, 3 km from Mannar to south ,9 km from Harippad (towards east)and 12 km from Chengannur (towards West)Town. The nearest railway station is Mavelikara and then Harippad.

Sri.Chennithala Chellappan Pillai memorial cultural school is conducting music class, dance class and Chenda training at Chennithala at the Smaraka Samithi. Mahadeva Kuthiyotta Samathi is one and only kuthiyotta samathi in Chennithala. Kuthiyottam is mainly related to Chettikulangara temple.
