It would probably be best if the sections on Thailand and China were deleted as they seem to be endorsements, and not encyclopedic information. ==Revert to historical version==
It appears someone has gone in an sabotaged the entire article, and replaced it with a very short generalized paragraph with specific advertising.

I have reverted the entire article to the last respectable version in 2008, which has had many edits and corrections and collaboration in writing. It is the "last known good" of this article before it was wiped and replaced with the latest version.

There is extensive sourcing on the concept of homestays, Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL.
