Energy Return System (E.R.S.) is a technology created by Reebok where a series of tubes under the midsole and/or a tube on back of the midsole of an athletic shoe. The tubes are made from DuPont Hytrel, which is one of the most resiliant materials on earth.

When the foot strikes the ground, the Hytrel tubes store up the energy. As the foot is lifted the tubes return to their original shape and release the energy like a spring being sprung.
