Lina Esco (born May 14, 1985) is an American actress, producer and activist. She gained recognition in 2007 for portraying Jimmy Smits daughter in the CBS drama show "Cane", about a powerful and wealthy Cuban-American family running an successful rum and sugar cane business in South Florida.[2] Esco has also enjoyed a successful film career, having appeared in several Hollywood productions, London (2005), Kingshighway (2010) and her most recent in LOL: Laughing Out Loud (2011) which is scheduled for a 2011 release.

Early life

Lina Esco was born in Miami, Florida in 1985 and lived there for 14 years. From there she moved to France where she did some modeling, and then moved to London where she worked in theater. She then moved to New York to pursue acting and her career brought her to Los Angeles where she currently resides.

Career

Television

Esco moved to Hollywood, California and was casted in her first television guest star role in 2006, as Angie Watson in series CSI: NY. In March, 2007 Esco joined the cast of the CBS drama “Cane” along side with Jimmy Smits, Nestor Carbonell, Hector Elizondo and Rita Moreno. In 2009, Esco also guest starred in an episode of Drop Dead Diva series with Paula Abdul, where she played a lingerie model who'd been fired for going public about her breast cancer surviving story.

It was announced on February 25, 2011 that Esco would join the cast of Fox's new pilot “Exit Strategy”. Described as a High octane procedural set in the world of CIA agents who are sent in to "fix" operations gone bad. The cast includes Ethan Hawke, Megan Dodds and with Antoine Fuqua directing.[3] Esco will play Mia, an MIT graduate and computer expert from South Boston.[4]

Film

Esco’s first film debut was in 2005 with London, starting alongside Jessica Biel, Jason Statham, Chris Evans and Isla Fisher. In June 2010, it was reported that Esco will be starting on the buzz worthy comedy LOL: Laughing Out Loud, who stars along side Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore and Ashley Greene.

Producer

On April 2010, Esco produced a PSA for the documentary The Cove Titled: "My Friend is..." along side with Oscar winning producer Fisher Stevens joined forces with celebrities: Jennifer Aniston, Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Hayden Panettiere, Paul Rudd, Naomi Watts, Courteney Cox, Mariska Hargitay, Woody Harrelson, Jason Mraz, James Gandolfini, John Leguizamo, Evan Handler, Rob Morrow, Tamlyn Tomita, Carrie Ann Inaba, Chris Tashima, Russell Simmons, James Kyson Lee and Richard Kind for a web release production to bring awareness on the annual killing of dolphins in Taiji, Japan.[5]

Other work

Very little is known about her commercial work but Esco has been showcase in various commercial, music videos, magazines and publications over the past years. In 2001, she was feature in the Sinead O’ Connor music video for "Jealous". She later appear briefly in Moby's music video for "Southside" featuring Gwen Stefani in 2000's. She was also an extra in a couple of Axe commercials one including with Nick Lachey in the “Clix” ad campaign in 2007. Esco also featured in Halos's music video for "Amalgam" in 2010.

On January 12, 2011 it was reported that Lina would be showcased on the new Louis Vuitton’s jewelry collection for the Spring/Summer 2011. The campaign featured sixteen “It” girls from around the Globe that included Alexandra Richards, Annabelle Dexter Jones, Mary Charteris, Alka Balbir, Mohini Geisweiller, DJette Clara 3000, Charlotte Lebon, Hailey Gates, Nathalie Love and Rinko Kikuchi.[6]

Philanthropy

On September 9, 2009 Esco held a private screening of The Cove in New York along side with Russell Simmons and Fisher Stevens hosting the event to bring awareness on the film.[7] Esco has supported many foundations and organizations throughout her career, but has mainly focused on whales and dolphins.
