Best Player is a 2011 TV movie that was released on March 12, 2011 starring Jerry Trainor as Quincy and Jennette McCurdy as Chris "Prodigy" Saunders, two stars from the hit Nickelodeon show iCarly.[2] Filming started on October 24, 2009 in Vancouver, Canada[3] and wrapped up production on November 18, 2009.[4] The promo was released on February 12, 2011. The film premiered during the Nickelodeon All Access Cruise with Jennette McCurdy on March 4, 2011. In addition, this film also attempts to promote actress Janet Varney (who played McCurdy's mother in this film) as she is going to voice the titular character in the upcoming Nickelodeon animated series The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra.

Synopsis

Chris Sanders and Quincy are both involved in a video game called "Black Hole", and they both want to win the tournament with a $175,500 prize. Quincy then tries to sabatoge Chris, but it all goes wrong, because Chris' mom Tracy thinks that Quincy is her Internet date. Quincy lies to Tracy on their first date saying that he is a Home Ec. teacher at Chris' school. Right before the tournament, Chris figures out that Quincy was lying about everything. So, Chris decides that she will "destroy" him at the tournament. Quincy ends up forfeiting the tournament to show that he is sincerly sorry. Tracy takes him back, and they go to Chris' prom. Chris decides to go with her love interest in the movie, Ash.

Trivia

  • In one of the scenes where Quincy and Prodigy are at the arcade, the song "City is Ours" by Big Time Rush can be heard in the background, and another song of theirs, "Big Night", is played during the closing credits. During the arcade scene, Ash and Chris plays a dancing game similar to DanceDanceRevolution and the song played is "How You Love Me Now" by Hey Monday.
