Panagiotis (Greek: Παναγιώτης), sometimes phonetically transliterated as Panayiotis or latinized as Panagiotes, is a common male Greek name deriving from the epithet Panagia ("all-holy")[1], which is one of the titles of Mary, the mother of Jesus in Orthodox Christianity. Diminutive forms of the name are Panagis (Παναγής), Panos (Πάνος) and Takis (Τάκης). The female form of the name is Panagiota (Παναγιώτα), shortened to Giota (Γιώτα).
