Firefly Solutions is an e-learning platform and website developer located in London, United Kingdom that has positioned itself as offering a 3-in-1 solution for schools that can include a learning platform, intranet and school website. The company currently services more than 30 public schools.[1] Firefly’s platform allows schools to publish and access information from anywhere with an internet connection at anytime.[2]

Background

In 2000, Firefly Solutions was started by two 15-year-old students at St. Paul’s School after they became frustrated with the school’s insufficient intranet system. As students Joe Mathewson and Simon Hay put together the new easy-to-use system during school holidays.[3] Soon after Forest School expressed interest in the new system and the commercial entity of Firefly Solutions was established.[4] Last year it was reported that students at Wellington College stranded due to ash cloud grounding thousands of flights were able to continue with lessons via an e-learning platform provided by Firefly Solutions.[5]
