Hi, This is just my talk page, feel free to leave any advice on my edits or ask for help on anything. If you feel I've abused my administrative or BAG powers, please see User:MBisanz/Recall for further instructions to request their removal.

Wikimania 2012 bid, DC chapter & next meetup!

  1. At WikiXDC in January, User:Harej proposed that DC submit a bid to host Wikimania 2012. A bid and organizing committee is being formed and seeks additional volunteers to help. Please look at our bid page and sign up if you want to help out. You can also signup for the bid team's email list.
  2. To support the Wikimania bid, more events like WikiXDC, and outreach activities like collaborations with the Smithsonian (ongoing) and National Archives, there also has been discussion of forming Wikimedia DC, as an official Wikimedia chapter. You can express interest and contribute to chapter discussions on the Wikimedia DC Meta-Wiki pages.
  3. To discuss all this and meet up with special guest, Dutch Wikipedian User:Kim Bruning, there will be a meetup, Wikipedia:Meetup/DC 16 this Tuesday at 7pm, at Capitol City Brewery, Metro Center. There will be a pre-meetup Wikimania team meeting at 6pm at the same location.

Apologies for the short notice for this meetup, but let's discuss when, where & what for DC Meetup #17. Also, if you haven't yet, please join wikimedia-dc mailing list to stay informed. Cheers, User:Aude (talk)

DC Meetup: May 7 @ Tenleytown Library

The next DC Wikimedia meetup is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 3:30-5:30 pm at the Tenleytown Library (adjacent to the Tenleytown Metro Station, Red Line), followed by dinner & socializing at some nearby place.

This is the first official meeting of our proposed Wikimedia DC chapter, with discussion of bylaws and next steps. Other agenda items include, update everyone on our successful Wikimania bid and next steps in the planning process, discuss upcoming activities that we want to do over the summer and fall, and more.

Please RSVP here and see a list of additional tentatively planned meetups & activities for late May & June on the Wikipedia:Meetup/DC page.

Any way to remove notice of name change from user page?

THANKS!!

Thanks MBisanz

Don't know if changing someone's user name for them is a difficult job or just a click of a button, but thanks for doing it so quickly. Exok (talk) 23:05, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Easy to do, no problem. MBisanz talk 04:07, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks also for the trial at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/JeffGBot, it's now complete.   — Jeff G.  ツ 03:38, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OlYeller

The history (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Everybody_Draw_Mohammed_Day&action=history) shows that OlYeller reverted my edits twice in less than an hour. So why did I get a warning (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Carbonator&oldid=429824570) for 3RR but OlYeller didn't? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carbonator (talkcontribs) 04:04, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You've been reverting him and another editor over the last couple of days with very antagonistic edit summaries. Please stop and discuss it on the talk page or you will be blocked. MBisanz talk 04:06, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't answer my question. Why did you give me a warning for two edits within 24 hours, but didn't give a warning to OlYeller for also making two edits within 24 hours (in fact, within one HOUR)? Can you can explain your inconsistent enforcement of the rules?--Carbonator (talk) 04:17, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, in his latest revert, OlYeller falsely claimed: "Reasons have been presented on the talk page and you refuse to discuss." The sentence in question (the one that OlYeller keeps deleting) was in the "Pakistan Internet block" section, and that sentence that I added has NOT been discussed on the talk page. In fact, that entire section has not been discussed on the talk page. It's true that Pakistan has been mentioned on the talk page, but that was in the context of modifying the first sentence of the article and had NOTHING to do with the new sentence in the "Pakistan Internet block" section. So OlYeller has not only engaged in multiple reversions within 24 hours but is claiming to do so under false pretenses.--Carbonator (talk) 04:18, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
His edit summaries were not as antagonistic and as I said, it is the pattern of edit warring you have engaged in, not just the count, that matters here. MBisanz talk 04:43, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So his summaries weren't "AS" antagonistic. So whichever person is a bit more antagonistic gets the warning. Good to know. On to your second claim: I still don't understand how *I* have a "pattern of edit warring," but Olyeller doesn't when: (1) I added a completely valid and relevant and referenced sentence; and (2) OlYeller repeatedly removed it for NO VALID REASON; and (3) Olyeller falsely claimed in his summary that the issue was presented in the talk page. So it's odd that falsifying summaries isn't considered a form of antagonism and/or worthy of a warning. The only reason OlYeller removed it is because he has a really big anti-Carbonator grudge. I once called him a "thin-skinned prick" and he took it badly. He now confirms the validity of said appellation by obsessively searching for ANY of my edits and reverting them, which is exactly what he did in this case. How is that not vandalism? --Carbonator (talk) 13:47, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
M, may want to take a look at the page. I've tried reasoning with Carb and usually just get called named. He's on his 3rd revert in a matter of about an hour. I'd use my 3rd to force him to either talk or get another 3RR block but I'm really not into edit warring. Any suggestions? OlYellerTalktome 19:17, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
