The album was recorded and produced by Phillip McKellar, (Silverchair, Grinspoon) in Sydney over a couple of frantic weeks in February 2005. The band then flew to Seattle in March to mix United Paper People with Barrett Jones, (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), sleeping on floors and dining on two minute noodles so that they could afford his help.
The first single was "Do-Do's & Whoa-oh's", with the single gaining heavy rotation on music channels and radio, both commercial and alternative. The band also received a "Best breakthrough artist-single" ARIA nomination for "Do-Do's & Whoa-oh's". The second single from the album was "Face Without A Name".
