Dr Aamir Liaquat Husain (Urdu: عامر لیاقت حسین) is a politician, Research Scholar and renowned broadcaster and a very famous anchorperson from Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Aamir Liaquat Husain is also a former State Minister for Religious Affairs, Government of Pakistan and a host of the most popular TV programme Aalim Aur Aalam on ARY Digital. On August 6, 2010, he officially joined ARY Digital Network as an Executive Dierector. Aamir Liaquat Husain was born on July 5, 1971 at Karachi.[1] Aamir Liaquat Husain contested 2002 general election under the supervision of Pervez Musharraf, and the platform of his affiliated party Muttahida Qaumi Movement. Aamir is a man of many qualities, prominent scholar who possesses a pleasing disposition, veteran journalist whose name becomes synonymous with truthfulness and bravery in the field of journalism, prolific columnist whose articles inspire his readers, and a famous Naat Khuwan has a melodious voice.

He had been attached to print media over 13 years as an editor and as columnist in different newspapers. As host he did his first program on Geo television network, the program Aalim Online became symbol of spreading interfaith harmony among sects. His contribution both to electronic and print media is immense. Almost every popular scholar has participated in world famous program "Aalim On Line" now Aalim Aur Aalam which he has been hosting for the last Twelve years.
When he appears on television screen or a public gathering, thousands of people would gather to listen; no one likes to go away from television screen and remains glued with his/her place when he speaks. He joined ARY Network in 2010 as Executive Director and Managing Director of QTV.
He has earned his popularity from his Ramadan special transmissions for Sahoor and Iftaar. These transmissions were aired from Geo TV till the Ramadan of 2009 and from ARY Digital Network since 2010. This transmission took an entirely new format in the Ramadan 2011 and was titled Rahman Ramadan. Key features include scholars of all 4 Muslim sects in Aalim Aur Aalam, a cooking show, in-studio audience composed mainly of deserving people who receive help and support from viewers of the program in different ways.
Achievements
In 2005 when Aamir Liaquat Hussain was Minister of State, he made all ulemas to give a collective fatwa against suicidal attacks. This fatwa was given by Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rahman with the support of 300 religious scholars.
Besides his curricular activities he also took part in extra curricular activities. As an intellectual, writer and orator, he was widely acknowledged.
During his student days he became an icon of debating fraternity, winning the "Best debator of Asia award" bestowed by the International Youth Congress, United Nation. In addition he was declared "Best debater of Pakistan" (eight times), "Best debator of Sindh" (thrice) and "Best debator of Karachi" (seventeen times)
In 2008 The King Of Saudi Arabia, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz invited him in an interfatith conference which was held in Makkah and Spain, where Aamir Liaquat represented Pakistan.[2][3]
He is an author of high caliber. He wrote many books. Recently his finest work came in public; titled "Hamari man khadeja (RA)" It is a biography of Syeda Khadeja (RA) the first wife of Prophet Mohemmed (SAWW) and first mother of believers as well.
Renowned scholars like Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman & Dr Fazal Ahmed commented on the publication of this book as the most exhaustive and a most authentic biography of Syeda Khadeja (RA) published so far in Urdu.
His news paper columns that appeared in "Daily Jang" for the last two years have been published in book form, titled "Loud speaker".
His book about the signs of Judgment Day has also appeared in the market, titled "Aasar-e-Qayamat".
2005 attack
In 2005 he was attacked by extremist elements during his visit to Jamia Binoria.[4] He escaped the attack unharmed.

Minister of Religious Affairs
Husain was formerly the Minister of State for Religious Affairs. During the Lal Masjid crisis, Husain was said to be "Neutral" on this issue, though he clearly said he disagreed with the militants' ideology.[5] He was also extremely critical of the British Government regarding the knighthood of Salman Rushdie.[5]
On July 4, 2007 Aamir Liaquat Husain resigned from his position as Minister of State for Religious Affairs and his membership to the National Assembly after grave and severe differences with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). According to the party official statement, the party was unhappy with the statements given by Aamir on Lal Masjid and Salman Rushdie.[6] Aamir Liaquat Husain resigned according to himself for personal reasons and according to a source in the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Aamir Liaquat Husain was going to be head of a TV station.[5]
Expulsion
On September 7, 2008, Hussain hosted two religious clerics on his TV Show Aalim Online. During the show the Ahmadiyya beliefs and leaders (including the founder of Ahmadiyya movement Mirza Ghulam Ahmad) were criticized and one of the guest has said that False Prophets Not Ahmedis are liable to be killed.[7] A few days later, two Ahmadis were shot dead in Nawabshah, Sindh due to the inner war between two groups in Ahmadiyya Community and reliable sources also claimed that MQM was allegedly behind these killings to malign and vanished the image of Aamir Liaquat. Interestingly MQM which is also known as a Violent Group of Karachi, blamed his TV show for inciting the violence.[8] On September 10, 2008 Muttahida Qaumi Movement officially cancelled the basic membership of Aamir Liaquat Husain, citing ideological differences.[9]
