Sci. Am. vol. 116 p. 573 identifies Charles's parents and Henry and Mary Goodrich Van Hise, good evidence that it is a mistake to shorten William Henry Van Hise to William, and providing a norm suggesting that Mary's maiden name Goodrich be retained. |
