Belvidere is home to Tippy the cat. Tippy's tail was amputated in the great winter freeze of 2010. Tippy was voted Belvidere's most favorite pet in 2008,2009, and 2010. In 2011 Tippy was unseated by Eddie the cat as Belvidere's favorite pet.

In 2009 Dan Tipcke became Belvidere's top crime fighter after his arrest of two dangerous felons. On March 1st, 2009 Tipcke was officially named Life Time Sheriff of the township after a daily meeting at the Whistle Stop.

On April 1st, 2012 Dan Tipcke relinquished his title as life time Sheriff of Belvidere. Tipcke told the Belvidere Free News that in a cost savings move the Whistle Stop Crew took away his sqaud car (PT Cruiser) and replaced it with a horse. Tipcke told the Belvidere news, " Initially I was pumped, I've got a Lone Ranger outfit in my closet I've been dying to wear, but then they drop off a half blind horse with mange. All I got to say is Homey don't play that." On April 10th the Whistle Stop Crew (WSC) moved quickly to replace Tipcke. After the fourth game of huckleybuck it was decided that Bruce Holst would be the new Life Time Sheriff of Belvidere.
