The NFL Top 100 is an annual top 100 list that features the best hundred players in the NFL. The rankings are based on NFL players voting on their peers based on the performance of their previous season and their belief of how the player will perform the following season.
2011
The Top 100 NFL players of 2011 have been announced. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was ranked as the number 1 player[1] in the NFL, while Donovan McNabb, Washington Redskins quarterback was ranked number 100. The Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills did not have any players ranked on the list. The 91st to 100th ranked players were announced on April 30, 2011. 2012
The Top 100 Players of 2012[23] is a poll based on players voting on their peers to determine the best 100 NFL players for the 2011 NFL season. From the 2011 list, 39 players did not make it back on the 2012 list. Of those 61 returners on two so played for different teams in 2011, Jason Babin and Vonta Leach, and as far as we know 4 players will have switched teams coming into the 2012 season. The 91st-100th ranked players on the list were announced on April 28, 2012. Controversial quarterback Tim Tebow ranked 95th on the list.[24] NFL fans can also vote in fan poll until June 1, 2012.[25] Tennessee Titans running back, Chris Johnson fell down 87 spots on the list.[26] The Indianapolis Colts had 4 players fall off the list. The Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills both have players on this list unlike last year, making this years list have a representative of each of the 32 teams. On June 6th, 2012, Carolina Panthers quarterback, Cam Newton became the highest ranking rookie any Top 100 players list at 40. The NFL Network follows up each episode with the NFL Top 100 Reaction Show which features Lindsay Rhodes and different NFL Network analysts including Warren Sapp and Kurt Warner among others to react to the biggest surprises[27], which players should rank higher than others, etc. Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning had one of the most controversial rankings at 50th. [28] The finale, airing June 27th, 2012, is split into two lists airing back to back like the previous year's list.
