The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the photography workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved for a Wikipedia article. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Advice to requesters

All requests:

  • Please make sure your request is "legitimate" by copyright. If the image(s) are in the public domain or freely licensed, you are fine. If the image(s) are "Fair use", there are only certain things we can do with them without falling afoul of Wikipedia's fair-use policies.
    • If you are requesting assistance with a copyright or fair-use image, don't display it on this page; place {{GLNF|Example.png|caption|align=left}} to create a link to it. Do not add the File: extension. Our fair-use policy does not allow displaying fair-use images out of their articles on ANY account.
  • Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
  • If a request is done to your satisfaction, please mark it with {{resolved}}.

SVG requests:

  • Make sure your request can actually BE vectorized. Note that vector drawings are not suitable for certain applications. We generally use SVG format for icons, logos, drawings, maps, flags, and such. Certain things, photographs especially, are totally impossible to vectorize.
  • Per our non-free content policy, vectorization of copyrighted images is not permitted. If a vectorized non-free image is desired, seek out such an image from the copyright holder.

Graphist opinion(s):  Done - Sharpened edges - Not sure that the images deserved it, so I uploaded them separately here, here, here, and here. --GianniG46 (talk) 07:31, 8 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clean-up and restoration

Article(s):

Request: Please fix perspective, clean-up, and restore as a separate image in stepwise Jenith (talk) 06:05, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

What do you mean by "in stepwise"? – JBarta (talk) 09:16, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Perspective/Clean-up as a separate version. I'm OK with the expert handling in single revision itself. --192.8.222.82 (talk) 11:34, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm wondering if the white around the girl's hair on the right is supposed to be there or is it a defect in the photo? – JBarta (talk) 03:54, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No it is not a defect. It is a string of flowers :-) --Jenith (talk) 14:04, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Translucid background

Article(s): Pedro I of Brazil

Request: Please, turn into white the background of both pictures. After that, create a new file of both with translucid background in .png type. Thank you veyr much, Lecen (talk) 22:23, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

GianniG46, could you remove the frame of the painting in the .png version of Pedro I's file? Also, would you mind removing the background of this signature and creating a new ".png" file with translucid background? --Lecen (talk) 12:25, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really, really sorry. But I got the wrong signature. The one I wanted was this one. Could you do it again (perhaps you should upload it in another file)? --Lecen (talk) 18:28, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very, very much! That's precisely what I was asking for! They all look perfect. I'm in debt to you once again, Gianni! You're doing a great work here! --Lecen (talk) 20:43, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):  Done. The file with translucid background are: File:Francisca_of_Braganza_1880.png, File:Emperor Dom Pedro I 1822.png. --GianniG46 (talk)

Frame removed. --GianniG46 (talk) 14:41, 23 June 2012 (UTC) - For the other things, after the weekend :-)! --GianniG46 (talk) 14:47, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The signature is in this file. --GianniG46 (talk) 18:03, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The second signature is here. --GianniG46 (talk) 20:23, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
