Milan Lalkovič (born 9 December 1992) is a Slovak striker who plays for Portuguese Liga club Vitória de Guimarães on loan from Premier League club Chelsea. He can also play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder. He has great pace and trickery, but his dribbling is his best asset and is a potential threat off either foot.
Early life
Lalkovič was born in Košice. From his early ages, Milan showed signs of being a very lively and active child. He started football at the age of six. The first club he ever played for was Košice-Barca.[1]
Club career
Early career
He had impressed in Slovakian youth football, Chelsea offered Lalkovic a trial period in 2006. After a number of successful short spells with the Blues which includes netting four goals in a game, the 14 year-old signed a multi-year deal with the club to include a standard youth scholarship when he turned 16. During the 2009-10 season, Lalkovič won the FA Youth Cup when Chelsea beat Aston Villa by 3 – 2 on aggregate. Later in the season 2010-11, Lalkovič became a fully fledged member of the Reserve team. That season, Chelsea won the national league title and Lalkovič finished with six goals and four assists from 17 appearances.
Doncaster Rovers
Lalkovič joined Doncaster Rovers F.C. on a one-month loan on August 18.[2] Lalkovič made his debut for Doncaster against Derby County on 20 August 2011, which ended in a 3-0 lost for Doncaster.[3] After an impressive few weeks, the deal extended for another month until October. Lalkovič made a total of six appearances for Doncaster before returning to Chelsea.[4]
ADO Den Haag
On Transfer Deadline Day, Milan Lalkovic joined Dutch club ADO Den Haag until 30 June 2012 on loan.[5] On 18 February 2012, Lalkovič made his debut for ADO Den Haag coming off the bench at the 66 minute mark against Excelsior which ended in a 1-1 draw.[6] On 8 April, Milan returned to the Chelsea, with the loan being terminated after becoming surplus to requirements at the Dutch club.
Vitória Guimarães
On 18 July 2012, Lalkovic joined Vitória de Guimarães on a year-long loan.[7] On 19 August, Lalkovic made his debut against Sporting Lisbon in a 0-0 tie, coming on for Marcelo Toscano in the 87th minute.[8]
