Well I guess after a bit of google search, there are quite a few results that support it. It'd be nice, for there to be a footnote to the source though. Being a Sunset resident myself, I didn't really notice, but I could definitely think of a reason or two. Archon Wing 01:57, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I guess it could be true, to some degree, but I don't think Fiona Ma is particularly conservative (not sure about Ed Jew)... If there were some evidence from election results showing that district 4 was strongly in favor of something relevant that a known-to-be-liberal district was strongly against, or vice versa, that would be convincing...--Tangerine5000 03:42, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

As someone who has lived in, and voted in, the Sunset, I'd say it is certainly more conservative than the rest of The City. The sentences in question do not say it's conservative on a nationwide scale (the Sunset is probably still more liberal than the rest of the state even), but among communities citywide. Comparing supervisors like Fiona Ma, Tony Hall and Leland Yee to the rest, the Sunset comes up as more conservative than almost any other neighborhood. I've added that bit back, with links to articles in the Chronicle and Call mentioning the conservative tilt of area. --skew-t 07:07, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

As another resident of the Sunset, I would have to agree. There are a large number of older, first generation Chinese immigrants that live in the area that hold conservative, traditional viewpoints. I remembered support for Prop 8 last year amongst the older population here.. however the youth generally seem to hold more liberal-leaning ideologies. Supervisorial Districts of the Sunset

I live in the Inner Sunset just below the park, and I'm in the tail end of District 5.

But from that map, it looks like a lot more of the Sunset is District 7 than 5.

Check out the "Full District Map" link on that page for detail. The Inner Sunset is definitely in district 5, and perhaps just a block or so in district 7 (Judah to Kirkham from 9th to 19th). Otherwise from the description set as starting at 19th, I think district 7 is more the West of Twin Peaks neighborhood and Merced Manor than the Sunset. --skew-t 22:38, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

San Francisco State University

The article says that SF State is in the "southwestern corner of the neighborhood across from Lake Merced." Southwestern corner of WHAT neighborhood? I live in San Francisco, and SF State is clearly NOT in the Sunset District.69.181.41.173 (talk) 04:32, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
