Seengemai is a village under the municipal board of Sirsaganj in Firozabad district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Geography

Seengemai is located at 27°03′36″N 78°43′33″E / 27.06000°N 78.72583°E / 27.06000; 78.72583. It has an average elevation of 165 metre. It is 5 km far from Sirsaganj. Nowadays a bye-pass road for National Highway No.2 has been constructed, which passes by near the village. This village is situated by the side of river named as aab-ganga. Although the river has undergone extinction. Some villages which surrounds this village are nagla nainsukh, nagla neewri, nagla maharam and kisraon.

Transport

Nearby town Sirsaganj is the main market to the people of Seengemai. There are three main roads to connect the village to Sirsaganj. These roads are also used by the trucks,tractors, bullock-carts and other vehicles for the transportation of people, crops and animals. There are no buses, autos and other public transport in this village. People of this village have their own such as tractors, cars, motor-cycles, scooters and bicycles for transportation to nearby villages and the town.

People

In the village of Seengemai there live 425 families constituting a population of 2974 people. There live 1606 males and 1368 females. Sex ratio of the village is 851.80 females per 1000 males. Hinduism is the main religion here. Buddhism and Islam followers are in minority. Although minorities have turned them according to hindus over a long period of time. They all live happily enjoying their respective religion. People of this village generally speak Khariboli Hindi i.e. a informal form of Hindi. Some educated families also understand English fluently. Farming is the main occupation here. There are also some government servicemen and businessmen in the village. People of this village can easily be seen fighting, gambling, enjoying and celebrating together. Many of males of this village has developed a habit of boozing and gambling, leading a dirty environment of the village.

Infrastructure

Seengemai is very poor in terms of infrastructure. Roads here are very old and have turned rubbish. Streets here are in old "kharanja" style made up of bricks and clay only. Sewage system is extremely poor. There are open drainage leading mosquitoes and filth. Electricity supply remains poor throughout the year. There are no street lights on the roads. There is a government funded hospital, two government funded schools and two private cold storages in the village.
