The proposed was first raised in 1961. Government took 253.90 acre of land of current place at that year to build the plant. In 1963 the plant was approved. However no real progress achieved.

Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant is a proposed 2,000 megawatt (MW) Nuclear power plant of Bangladesh. It will go into operation by 2020 and will be be country's first nuclear power plant.

Location
