Tom was very popular and happy in High School.
Does this need to be here? 164.58.186.110 19:17, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
I removed it.
Why was the picture of Tom removed and replaced with the 'Reign In Blood' art?
Who wrote Slayer was death metal? o_O RpgActioN 22:15, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
This article needs to be added to!
There has to be more about Tom than this!
I deleted the first three sentences because they were very POV, although I completely agree with them! (Damned Headbanger 20:00, 9 August 2006 (UTC))
Iron Gland was originally from the album 'Dirt' so I changed it. But I don't know how to get the link so that it will directly go to the 'Dirt', an album of Alice In Chains, page. I hope I made myself clear.

Tom's religion
I removed Category:Christian musicians and changed it to Category:American Roman Catholics because it was a more appropriate category. --Eastlaw 07:08, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Why? Catholics ARE Christian, I am putting it back Iamanadam (talk) 14:52, 1 September 2008 (UTC) there's no track on the alice in chains album dirt named iron gland.
I'm convinced that Tom is actually a "DEIST", or at most a Liberal Theist/Simple "THEIST", and just does'nt realize it yet or realize at least that these labels fit him better.--Iconoclastithon (talk) 21:44, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, how? Do you even know what a deist is? Deists do not believe in a loving God (well, not all of them. Most see him as being a distant creator, a neutral diety). Araya has clearly stated he believed in a loving diety. Second of all, he has identified himself as Roman Catholic. 98.198.85.83 (talk) 06:17, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Tom Araya Bass Picture

Passed GA
Good article. I suggest referencing the equipment section (in cased I missed a reference, sorry) and adding more verifiable information. It's highly accessible to someone not familiar with the subject (I rarely, rarely listen to music at all, let alone metal). Otherwise, I suggest a peer review, those guys are better at fleshing out mistakes. I just tell you if it's good or not. DoomsDay349 22:42, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll get a reference now. M3tal H3ad 11:05, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Tom's Beard
Although this is a very recent photograph, it is not a very appealing one. Can I upload another pic, such as from the early 1990's? Dog Man311 22:07, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Is it copyrighted? M3tal H3ad 08:28, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'd put a copyright tag on it, as I do for all of my images. Dog Man311 12:29, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Here's The Image http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Tom_Araya1.jpg
- The image is copyrighted and fails the fair use criteria (so will get deleted) in that "free image could not be created to replace it" - the current image is free in that someone took it at a concert and put it under a free license. M3tal H3ad 12:48, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Religion
NOTE: I made the edit but then realized that I was offline so the I.P is: 121.216.57.216
Someone changed the quote "But He's an all-loving God" to "But He's not an all-loving God" so I reverted it back. I regard this as pure ignorance and vandalism.
If anyone sees this in the future please help fix it =)
Cheers

BIO
The following information: ""Rumors circulating the internet state he left because of political unrest; Araya denied this claim, stating that "that happened in ‘71 and we were already in the United States by that time"" Is wrong, because that happened in'73, but I didn't edit it, because maybe that was a Araya's mistake. In that case, a sign of "SIC" could be right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.163.11.56 (talk) 21:48, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

American?
Good lord, he was born in Chile, why does it says there that he's American? Seriously. Did he change his nationality? I don't think so. I don't mean to sound rude, forgive me if I do so. I already changed the article. 189.170.44.71 (talk) 02:05, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Why not American? I am pretty sure he has an American passport by now. After living more than 45 years in the US it would be quiet ridiculous if he wasn't American.--80.133.176.159 (talk) 11:33, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

12 - Change to Religion section
I just made a change in the religion section. It said that Araya IS catholic while other members of the band "profess of being atheists". That's, first of all, unnecessarily intricate language. Second, it had a second intention hidden. It assured the reader that Araya is a catholic, while the other members merely claimed to be atheists. We have the same kind of proof for either (lyrics, interviews, etc.). It's a typical fundamentalist christian argument to say that somebody "claims to be an atheist", that phrase carrying the hidden opinion that nobody is really an atheist. That is obviously biased, so I removed it to leave just the fact (that other band members are atheists, and Araya is a catholic)

- Please assume good faith. The editors probably didn't mean that. To avoid the assumption either way, however, I have changed it to "nonreligious." Most of the other members have never really stated their religion, though some members have (King being atheist, Araya being Catholic, etc). I hope this helps. 98.198.85.83 (talk) 06:23, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
- I also would like to add that using the word "claim" and other variants are a way to deter from weasel words, as opposed to saying that a person "stated" or "implied." It is not uncommon for editors to use the word instead of "state" or "stated," or other variants. I really, seriously, highly doubt it was biased in anyway, rather, it was a way for editors to make it neutral. 98.198.85.83 (talk) 06:26, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
