Hitit University (Turkish: Hitit Üniversitesi) is a public university primarily located in Çorum, Turkey. It was formally established by the "Foundation Act No 5467", establishing it as a public university and juricial entity, enacted on 1 March 2006 [citation needed]. The university was created from units that had previously been part of Gazi University.
Hittite University offers 64 Associate's Programs within 6 schools, 47 Undergraduate Programs within 7 faculties and 13 masters and 5 doctorate programs within 3 graduate schools. The student body numbers around 12,104 drawn from Turkey and internationally, with 477 academic staff and over 309 administrative staff. All instruction is offered in Turkish. The current Rector of the university is Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan and the Vice Rector is Prof. Dr. Osman Eğri.
Hittite University takes its name from the Hittite civilization that existed in the Anatolian region in antiquity.

Faculties
Faculty of the Arts & Sciences
Founded in 2003, our faculty started education in the same year with its experienced staff and sufficient physical facilities. Trying to increase the number of its staff and improve the physical opportunities, our faculty serves with the excitement of being a newly founded university. It is of utmost importance to train students who are self-confident and good at questioning and critical thinking. Therefore, our faculty gives priority to engage students in interdisciplinary activities.
Offering not only bachelor but also master programmes in its well equipped classes and laboratories, the faculty aims to collaborate with other faculties at national and international level. It aims to combine natural and social sciences by organizing seminars, conferences, congresses, panels, projects and joint programs that are open to all students at the faculty and university. The academic staff is motivated to increase their academic publishing especially in the journals which are within the scope of SSCI, SCI and AHCI indexes.

Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences
Founded in 1993, our faculty started education in the academic year of 1998-1999. Having its first students in the Department of Business Management, the faculty has increased the number of its departments, staff and students. It aims to produce graduates who are competent and experienced in business management, economics, politics, and bureaucracy.
With its qualified and experienced staff, the faculty continues its studies to provide the students with the best educational opportunities. In this regard, the faculty carries its mission to train self-confident individuals who can solve problems with contemporary approaches and meet the needs of society.

Faculty of Divinity

Founded in 1992, Faculty of Divinity offers qualified education in the field of Islamic and Religious Sciences. Integrating science with religious thoughts, the faculty aims to improve the problem solving, analyzing and interpreting skills of the students. In this sense, the mission of the faculty is to train intellectual and faithful individuals who attach value on the society, environment and ethics.
Offering bachelor, master and doctoral programmes with its rich and qualified academic staff, the faculty provides students with a wide range of courses in which they can learn and discuss all the religions that have existed in history. Giving students the opportunity to hold cultural and educational events, the faculty motivates them to improve their research and personal skills.

Founded in 1992, Faculty of Engineering serves with its competent academic staff and well-equipped laboratories. Integrating theory with practice, the faculty aims to develop analytical thinking, synthesizing and managing skills of students. Therefore, the mission of the faculty is to train competitive, creative and innovative engineers who follow the improvements in science and technology and try to meet the needs of the society taking the cultural, social and financial values into account. Offering bachelor, master and doctoral programmes, the faculty encourages university-industry cooperation in order to contribute to the local and national development. The students are motivated to participate in national and international competitions with their own projects.

Faculty of Medicine
Founded in 2006, the Faculty of Medicine aims to train general practitioners who can recognize and overcome health problems at the national and international level. In this regard, the mission of the faculty is to train intellectual and inquisitive individuals who take human health and professional ethic values into consideration in their practice and who adopt lifelong learning as a principle with their scrutinizing and inquisitive approach. By putting theory into practice, the students contribute to the improvement of medical literature.

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
Hitit University was established in response to the Article 1 of Law No. 5467 and 2547 numbered Law’s additional 66. Article of the Organization of Higher Education Institutions with the additional clause in Article 66 on March 17, 2006. Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture
Founded in 2013, Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture has not got into operation yet. The educational principles of the faculty are based upon the fact that the creative process in art and design relies on a broad body of knowledge for direction and inspiration. Guided by this principle, the degree programs aim to train highly competent research, design and performance oriented artists having a deep understanding of basic concepts, modern design and performance methods.

Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences
Established in 2008, the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences aims to educate qualified academicians who have basic, technological and scientific knowledge in the field of science and engineering in order to meet the faculty needs of constantly growing universities.
It also aspires to train technical staff who hold master’s or doctoral degrees; who can follow and practice advanced technology and do research and development studies in line with the requirements of the industry. The Institute sets out training staff that are qualified, have master and postgraduate degree, able to follow technology and apply it as a principle.

Founded in 2008, Physical Education and Sports School aims to develop universal values and contemporary ideas by training people who have sportive sensitivity. The mission of the school is to produce creative and productive graduates. Courses are taught with the active attendance of students in different learning environments. Students are supposed to put theory into practice by using the knowledge they got from different disciplines.

Health School
Established in 1996, Health School aims to train professional medical staff who are sensitive to developments and changes that can affect human health; who can detect the health requirements of sick or healthy people on every occasion; who can plan, apply and evaluate the necessary nursing services in order to meet these requirements at occupational standards.
The mission of the school is to be an institution which produces contemporary information, offers qualified education, enlightens society and trains qualified and self-confident individuals. In this sense, the students have the opportunities to practice what they learn at the Training and Research Hospital of Hitit University Faculty of Medicine. Having professional experience before their graduation, the students can easily find jobs in their related fields.

Hitit University is an urban university which has a multitude of campuses around Çorum. Each campus hosts student activities such as the Spring Festival, free concerts, opening concerts, sports tournaments, theatre performances and performances by student clubs as well as scientific and cultural seminars.
Hittite University Central Library
Founded in 2006, Hittite University Library started to serve for the students and academicians in September 2007. The 800 square metres (8,600 sq ft) facility houses a comprehensive collection, study hall, lounge and canteen. It offers access to 20 internet-enabled computers, a copier and a high-resolution scanner. The library is open to students, staff, and independent researchers (although independent researchers may not borrow materials).
The Hittite University library holds 27,000 volumes in its collection. Both print and electronic databases of the library's collection can be accessed by searching the YORDAM automation system or using the library web page. The library is organized into five units: one for each of the five faculties of the university.
The printed library materials are classified according to the Library of Congress Classification system and are offered to use on the open shelf system. In this system, disciplines are split into classes as main divisions and subdivisions. Alphabetical symbols refer to broad classes and numerical sequence refers to subdivisions.

Student life
Housing and Health Care
There is a dormitory managed by the General Directorate of Higher Education Credit and Hostels Institution with 1000 person capacity. Another 750 person capacity dormitory is under construction. Additionally, various private dormitories and houses are available within Çorum. Free primary health care services, dietetics and psychological counseling and infirmary units and 112 emergency services are available to meet students' needs. Moreover, the university focuses on developing alternative systems to increase the participation of individuals with different needs.
Athletics and social life
A broad range of university-supported events are held during the course of the year. Students organize fund drives such as choosing sister schools, clothing support, book support and etc. Student clubs are provided with offices equipped with information technologies and furniture in order to increase their performance. Various areas in the campuses are open to use for students and personnel’s different social, cultural and sport activities.
