I'm really confused about something. Matveev is said to have married a Mary Hamilton, daughter of a peer who had been a refugee from the English Civil War of the 1640s. From this marriage sprang Pyotr the Great's mother. That's not what this article says. It does not comment at all. Can this be verified or refuted? |
