No explanation was give at that time.

RubyForge is a collaborative software development management system dedicated to projects related to the Ruby programming language. It was started in 2003 by Ruby Central in an effort to help the Ruby community by providing a home for open source Ruby projects.

As of November 2009, it hosts over 8,000 projects and has over 41,000 registered users.[1]

Shutting Down

At 7:03 AM - 10 Nov 2013 Evan Phoenix, in a tweet linked from the https://rubyforge.org/, has announced that RubyForge will be shutting down on May 15 2014, and that users should migrate their data from RubyForge before that date. No explanation was give at that time.
