Elmer's Products, Inc. is the manufacturer of Elmer's Glue-All, a popular PVA-based synthetic glue, and other craft and home repair products, including Krazy Glue, Ross Glue, ProBond adhesives, and X-Acto craft knives.

The brand was named after "Elmer the Bull", mate of Borden's advertising mascot Elsie the Cow. Elmer's image continues to be featured in the company logo.

First made by Borden, it was spun off independently in 1999. The company was acquired in 2003 by Berwind Corporation, a privately held investment firm that also owns WellPet and the National Pen Company.

History

Borden's original adhesives, such as the 1932 Casco Glue (Borden's first non-food product), were based on casein, a protein found in milk.^[1]

While Elmer's Glue-All uses a bull as a mascot, it does not contain any animal products. The glue is based on an emulsion of polyvinyl acetate, derived from petrochemical sources.^[2]
