Plot summary

The story begins with Rudra and Paro as children. Paro's parents are murdered in a bus by Tejawat's people who were wearing BSD uniforms. Thus, Paro has a misconception that BSD officers are cruel and she hates them. On the other hand, Rudra's mother has left him and his father for another man.

Years later, the story is set in Birpur, a small village ruled by Thakur Param Singh Tejawat. The latter engages in illegal trade of arms. Taking advantage of the gullibility of villagers, he instigates them against the BSD and makes them believe that he is their sole well wisher. Consequently, everyone in Birpur mistrusts BSD and believe only in Tejawat, allowing him to carry on with his trade. Rudra (now Major) is sent to investigate on the illegal trade in Birpur. Every year in Birpur a girl is selected and get married within a week to a groom who comes across the border and this year its Paro. This fake marriage is organised by Tejawat so that he can transport weapons safely. The fake barat brings parts of weapons with them to assemble at Thakur's mansion and take back money (which is hidden in the bride's trunk). Once the marriage has taken place and the barat reaches the other side safely, the bride is either killed or sold. However, Paro is unaware of this. Rudra learns about this and manages to stop them before they reach the border after the wedding. A fight ensues between BSD officers and the smugglers and Rudra kills Varun while trying to save Paro. Paro mistake his act for cruelty and hates him as he killed her husband. Meanwhile, scared for his safety, Tejawat tries to find Paro and kill her but Rudra protects her as she is his sole witness.

Paro realizes Tejawat is bad. She tries to win Rudra's heart. Incidents lead to a drunk Rudra marrying Paro. Paro and Rudra start getting close to each other.
