Harry Robert Stuart Maxwell (born 14 August 1994)[1] is a British entrepreneur, new media journalist and former reality television participant, from Northamptonshire, United Kingdom.

Maxwell first entered the public eye as the breakout star of British television programme, Young Apprentice. Maxwell finished 3rd in the second series of the show, which aired in 2011, and became the biggest survivor from any global production of The Apprentice.Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page). and been described as 'one of the The Apprentice's biggest success stories' by British press since his exit.[2].

Early Life

Harry Maxwell was privately educated and studied at Spratton Hall preparatory school in Northamptonshire and Rugby School in Warwickshire. He boarded during term time and lived with his mother, Jayne, during the holidays.[3] The fees for a boarder, while Maxwell was at Rugby School, were £27,000 per annum.

Maxwell achieved 9 A* grades in his GCSEs and took A-Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics and Extended Project.[4][5]

At age 11, Maxwell started his first venture, 'Tiger Tickets', retailing spare club class Wembley Stadium tickets on behalf of ticket holders, sourcing customers via the internet and charging commission. He then discontinued the business and went on to intern at Daily Mail (age 15) before launching LetsGetReal.co.uk (age 16). The website would source properties on behalf of people looking to move home for a fee. Maxwell sold the business to a Chinese domain broker for an undisclosed sum and then launched LuxuryFiveStarHotelGuide.com.[6] The website was the only directory to feature all of England's 5* hotels and charged hotels a 12% commission for bookings. The website is no longer in operation today.[7]

Maxwell is currently studying Geography with Economics BSc (Hons) at the London School of Economics.[8]

Career

Reality Television

Over October to December 2011, Maxwell competed in BBC1's Young Apprentice. At age 16, Maxwell survived seven out of eight weeks in the business process and exited in a semi-final twist where all the losing team were fired[9]. In every single task, Maxwell was placed on the losing team and thus for remaining in the process, despite losing seven tasks consecutively, he set and still holds the record for survival in any global incarnation of The Apprentice.[10][11]

Referred to as 'Harry M', to tell him apart from another candidate, Harry Hitchens, Maxwell was nicknamed 'the lovechild of Boris Johnson and Justin Bieber'[12] and 'Posh Harry'[13] by British press. Celebrities including Greg James[14], Dan Wootton[15], Will Cozens[16], Chris Moyles[17] and Gary Wilson (cricketer)[18] tweeted their support for Harry during the process, while Judy Murray described him as 'smug' and 'hopes he gets his come uppance'[19].
