Anthony Milford (born 11 July 1994, in Brisbane, Queensland) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Brisbane Broncos of the National Rugby League. A Samoa representative back, he has played his entire NRL career to date with the Raiders.
Background
Born in Brisbane to Samoan parents,[1] Milford began playing his junior football in Brisbane for the Souths Juniors in Acacia Ridge. During his teenage years he attended St Peter Claver College in Ipswich. While attending St Peter Claver, Milford was selected for the Queensland and Australian Under 15 Schoolboys in 2009.[2] While at the school he represented the under 15 Queensland and Australian Schoolboys sides in 2009.[3] In 2010, he represented the Queensland Under 16s, while playing for Souths Logan Magpies.[4] He graduated from their rugby league program in 2011.[5] In 2012, he represented Queensland Under 18s, playing halfback in their 24-18 win over New South Wales. Milford then joined the Canberra Raiders in 2012, leading their SG Ball side to the Grand Final, which they lost 42-20 to the Balmain Tigers. Later that year, at just 17 years old,[6] Milford debuted for the Raiders Under 20's team. He played 14 games, scoring 13 tries and helped the Raiders make the Grand Final, which they lost to the Wests Tigers.[7] In September 2012, Milford (who has New Zealand heritage) was set to be named in the Junior Kiwis side to face the Junior Kangaroos, before he officially pledged his allegiance to his birth country of Australia.[8][9] In November 2012, his superb 2012 form was rewarded with a new contract at the Raiders, keeping him in Canberra until the end of 2014.[10] In December 2012, he was named in Queensland's 2013 Junior Emerging Origin Squad.[11]
In 2013, Milford and fellow Canberra Raiders team-mate Josh Papalii were fined by the club for an alleged drinking incident.
Professional playing career
Canberra Raiders
In 2013, Milford trained with the Raiders NRL squad in the pre-season, despite still having 2 years left of NYC eligibility.[12] In 2013, he was named captain and halfback of Queensland's Under 20s State of Origin team. Milford made his first grade debut for the Raiders in 2013, coming off the bench against the Sydney Roosters in Round 5. He was named the club's player of the 2013 season. He signed a 2 year deal with the Brisbane Broncos because of family issues. Milford was selected to play for the Samoa national rugby league team in the 2013 World Cup. He featured in all four of Samoa's games, and scored his first International try against France in the pool stage.
Early in the 2014 NRL season Milford was being pursued by the Canberra Raiders. Ricky Stuart was keen to keep him in the Nation's Capital however he decided to stick with the contract he signed in 2013 to join the Brisbane Broncos. In May 2014, Milford was named for the Queensland Maroons under 20’s squad to play against the NSW Blues under 20’s, Milford played at five-eighth in QLD’s 30-8 loss at Penrith Stadium.[13] In June 2014, Milford was named in the QLD Maroons 22 man squad for Game 2 to be selected for the final interchange bench spot but North Queensland Cowboys prop Jacob Lillyman ended up being selected for the final spot over Milford. [14][15]

Milford is the cousin of Brisbane Broncos player, Francis Molo.[16]
